The entire stewards' document on the matter, for anybody interested. Seems that apparently even giving back the place is not good enough.

It will be interesting to see how McLaren's appeal goes. As you can see from what's been posted on this forum, there has been a lot of backlash about this. If Ecclestone and the FIA realise that a lot of people will be changing channel when Formula One is on, they may be forced to reverse this crazy decision.

Speaking of Bernie it would be interesting to see what his reaction to it all is? Mind you at the end of the day as long as he makes a profit of more than £999,999,999 a week he won't care.

Resisting the urge to echo what some of you have already said about 'affilliations', maybe we can have a discussion into the merits of defending your position on the race track (if thier is no road left?) or the integrity (lets focus on consistency and creditability) of the stewards?

I'd also like a clarification (anyone wanting to jump in here) on the F1 site's mention of the pass at the hair pin - not having read the rules lately, whats the context?

Seeing as the majority of F1 fans are most probably bind Ferrari lambs I doubt it. Ferrari are the most well known brand in the sport and as long as they are happy then i suppose the FIA are

wen Hamilton did that move he definitely gained time, this put him in a position to overtake Kimi, if he hadn't of cut the grass and overtook kimi, maybe kimi wouldn't of been pressured into a mistake.
wen kimi crashed i was shattered, i had given up on F1. than i was saying to dad that he only won coz he cheated past kimi, as the race is always delayed here i always check the internet to see if Hamilton got disqualified. so in the space of 2 minutes i was in love with F1 again .
Just remember McLaren fans, the FIA could of easily disqualified McLaren last year but now have lost their patience

THe whole funny point is that kimi left the track at one point and got the abiliy to really pick up some speed. I doubt he would of been penalised if he overtook Lewis :director:

I don't see what much he can do anyway. He is only interested in the TV ratings and money. The FIA are in charge governing and it is clear that they are corrupt and immoral.

If mclaren turn away from the sport its pretty much finished. e only think that keeps it going is the rivalry for the title and no one willwatch a ferrari white wash every year.

 I agree to the point that if F1 loose's McLaren it will not be the same, which is HIGHLY doubtful, but the sport will carry on without them.

If they want to cut out this "gaining an advantage of going off road" business, they should really consider putting down more gravel traps in the critical areas that drivers could use as short cuts. Also kerbs need to be made much steeper like they used to be in the oldern days so that drivers can't just leap over them.

There are too many big wide run off areas these days. Gone are the days when a trip into the gravel could easily mean "your race is over" or getting a steep kerb wrong could either damage your tyres or suspension or throw you off road.

I cannot really say anything that has already been said. The place was given back, so I cannot see the problem. There was contact made between Hamilton and Raikkonen. Raikkonen hit the back of Hamilton. There was no saying Raikkonen wouldn't have crashed even if Hamilton hadn't cut the corner, then given the place back. I won't be watching F1 again, and I think everyone should boycott until something is done. I do think there is a special relationship in place between Ferrari and Ecclestone though, they seem to get away with murder on the racetrack. If I were Lewis, I would seriously consider leaving F1, and even McLaren.
