This has the makings of opening up a whole new can of worms as far as random inconsistent penalties

Firstly instead of radio whats to stop the teams merely 'texting' whatever info to the drivers dashboard, and indeed the driver sending one out of a set of pre programmed questions? How can the stewards know that a message received by the driver saying tyre temp is 30 degrees red 5 is standard info and not a suggestion to warm up tyres by another 5 degrees?

If they say there is to be no communication at all from pit to car, then how does the team communicate about tam orders or safety?

Either no comms at all or its gonna get stupid messy. Instead of radio they will just use the LCD in prearranged ways to send messages - if fuel gauge flashes twice means you need to conserve more, if the tyre temp light flashes twice - your teammate is slowing etc etc - sector 1 light flashes 3 times your teammate is gaining there etc etc

as someone said earlier it will sort out the boys from men because it will get a lot more confusing and distracting and the guys who tend to say 'shut up' to engineers (Lewis) will do much better than the guys who are always asking 'what else can I do, give me advice etc' (Nico)

On the otherhand the more cerebral boys should enjoy the challenge of remembering 100 extra lights sequences while remebering to drive using less fuel

This will be too difficult to police. I think banning radio communication altogether would be better. I like the team radio messages, and I like listening to team strategies and ways to improve their performance. But I do also think that the sport would definitely be more about the drivers if they banned radio communication altogether.

You can't ban it entirely when you have these weird tyres with strategy in play all the time. Making the sport a much more of a strategy game than a racing, and then let the drivers out by themselves? Makes no sense.

But I agree, difficult to police and I'm sure....a whole new basket of stupid controversy coming up.

BTW what about Ferrari, does the FIA have an Italian-Eng translator on standby to make sure they follow the rule too?

Clever stuff!! After thinking about it all night at work, I'm a little more neutral on it. It should make the show better because although we won't hear the men asking for productive info (Nico) we also won't hear the boys crying about this and that (Lewis). Unfortunately, we can't remedy the situations of the boys bleating nonsense all over the media about how somebody parked the car in qualifying because the whingers didn't know how to properly navigate a qualifying session or other gibberish about being intentionally hit and such.

It should make the show better because although we won't hear the men asking for productive info (Nico) we also won't hear the boys crying about this and that (Lewis). Data transmission from pit to car is specifically prohibited by Article 8.5.2 of the F1 Technical Regulations
