Every innovation RBR comes up with gets banned!

Blown diffuser, extreme engine mapping, floor "holes", wheel bearing slots

AN is just too clever for F1

RBR would be untouchable if was not for every single innovation getting banned

It's ironic how a sport that is supposedly about innovation actually stiffles it.

What annoys me the most though is how a car can be legal then 3 races later after much tears Ferrari or McLaren (them being the usual suspects) the car is no longer legal.

Surely the rules that are set at the start of the season should remain unchanged for the entirety of that season except under force majuer (e.g. changes made on safety grounds).

I think its that stifling that keeps F1 innovative.
The FIA ban something so the engineers have to come up with ideas to make the cars just as quick. And they do.
Genious!

That used to be the case but the rules are getting more and more restrictive, F1 is slowly working it's way towards being a spec series; almost all innovation is banned within three races!

I think F1 has got so big in business terms it now has to resign itself to running as a global business which in the current economic climate means costs and efficiency are high on the agenda. Toyota, BMW and Honda pulled out of F1 as engine suppliers because they did not believe that it was ethically right to be blowing 100s of millions of pounds on a project that very rarely benefited their own R&D interests for their roadcars.
Things like kers and the new engines due in 2014 will attract a much higher interest in F1 from many engine suppliers as the R&D will be much more useful in roadcar production.
I agree that yes they do ban some innovations very quickly but some do get through the loopholes and then its down to all the other teams to catch up.
Thats F1

If the question was, has Red Bull been hard done by or have they benefited from FiA actions over legal/illegal parts then I'd say they've definitely benefited. The reason I believe that is because they have been allowed to continue using parts that were "eventually" banned for such a long time. Had the FiA banned, on first sighting all these items I don't think RB would have been as successful as they have been. In fact, RB is the only team to receive these "delayed" implementation benefits from the FiA, while other teams have had "creative" ideas immediately banned.

Have they been creative? Yes, but no they didn't come up with Double Diffusers, don't credit them with that one. Taking an old concept (EBD's) and making it so effective, was pretty creative.

Redbulls been around how long? I ask because it's funny hearing dickfosos whining about Redbulls technical innovations when if you look at the bigger picture you'll find it's Ferrari whom over the years have had many things benefit them on the technical front. The Term FIArrari didn't invent itself, hell Ferrari still get more prize money regardless of their constrictor position and run illegal tobbacco sponsorship to fund ther team. So please Ferrari lambs, refrain from whining about Redbull you look stupid!

Red Bull had a double diffuser but were one of the teams who were not allowed to use theirs. I think most teams had a double diffuser but only 3 teams were allowed to run theirs at the start of 2009.

Your anti-Ferrari view of the world of F1 is really showing through here mate. And to be fair, there hasn't been an era when Ferrari haven't suffered from bad/wrong decisions of the governing body. It has cost them races and championships.

You keep harping on every chance about tobacco sponsorship. Personally I'm against smoking, so I'd be happier with another sponsor in Marlboro's place. Having said that, the sponsorship is not illegal. But, if you want to draw that comparison, then how about having a close look at the owners of McLaren and very large stakeholders in the McLaren racing team the Bahrain royal family. They butcher their own people in the streets of their home town. I think there would be a lot of Bahrainy people who wish their now dead family members could light up a ciggy today and tomorrow.

I don't recall that at all, you got any reference that RB had a DD before the start of the season. As I recall it they were late bringing theirs because their design just didn't suit the DD at all. But I'm just going from memory there, so could be wrong, hence the request for a reference :)
