I suppose this could well be one of those tracks where being on the clean side of the grid could be vital going down to turn one.I'm still not sold by this circuit, not by a long shot.Hopefully the GP weekend will convince me,from the thought of in not being ready,to a sand drenched track, could be a guey mess if it rains :hehe: .I don't know maybe I should open my mind more.

Anyway McLaren 1-2 here  Lewis to win.

This is an awesome video of the track, its cgi, but it looks like a REALLY REALLY REEEEEEEALY fun track :) That swoooping right hander looks like it would be heaven.

Now if only the Redbulls were allowed to race against each other like that in real life...

This well could be the inaugural and ultimate Indian GP:

Indian tax dispute rumbles on

Saturday 22nd October 2011

India's Supreme Court has ordered the organisers of the country's first F1 race to freeze 25 percent of revenues from ticket sales in a bank account until a tax dispute is resolved.

Justice D.K Jain and A.R Dave directed the organisers to open a separate bank account and deposit the money until a ruling has been given on the case, which comes just over a week before the event.

An activist has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the court challenging a tax break given to the organisers, Jaypee Group, by the local state government where the circuit has been constructed.

Entertainment tax - usually applicable on large-scale shows, sponsored festivals or sports such as horse racing - has been waived by the Uttar Pradesh government in northern India.

The PIL claims that Formula One is an "elitist sport" and therefore the organisers should not enjoy tax exemption.

On Tuesday, the new $400 million track was unveiled in Greater Noida on the outskirts of New Delhi, which is part of an ambitious 1,000-hectare (2,500-acre) sports complex.

...The reason why many have the 'runs' when going there is due to the amount of spice in the food....which normal human beings can't handle. :hehe: ...

First of all, India has literally hundreds of styles of food and not all of them are spicy. Second, the dread "Delhi belly" has nothing to do with the spices. The condition is known as fecal-oral transmission. The reason is because Indians practise a different toilet hygiene from westerners. I won't venture any further than to say the typical Indian WC has no bog roll. Having grown up around it, the intestines of the Indians themselves are acclimatized to this low level of contamination. And once a westerner "gets" it, their intestines adapt as well and they typically will remain immune to a second bout for the remainder of their stay.

 One reason why the Indian cuisine is not that appealing to me.

Im amazed at some of the derogatory comments on here reagrding Indian food and table manners! Yes, they have differeing toilet/hygeiene regimes; they also eat only with their right hand, the left one (for toilet uses) remains behind their back. Not understanding other cultures is not a reason to ridicule them.

Mumbai planning Formula One circuit

A consortium is investigating the possibility of building a Formula One-specification circuit in Mumbai.

With the inaugural Indian Grand Prix taking place outside New Delhi this weekend, interest in the sport in India has been growing, and now a consortium has been appointed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to investigate the possibility of a grand prix circuit development in Mumbai.

The consortium is headed up by Capita Symonds and Populous, who have delivered proposals for the London 2012 Olympic Stadium and Olympic Park, as well as for Silverstone. Also part of the consortium is DIMTS (Delhi Integrated Multi Modal Transit System Ltd), and the consortium's role is to 'prepare the masterplan and business case for a new multipurpose race circuit and regeneration project'.

A press release states that 'Initially the consortium's scope of work is to identify the potential location for the circuit and associated development in Mumbai and around the city ... The Capita Symonds, Populous and DIMTS team will be working with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) to ensure that all aspects of the scheme meet the licensing and regulatory requirements of national and international motor sport on four and two wheels for all future events.'

Capita Symonds' business development director Jerry Muscroft said that the overall aim would be for the circuit to be self-sustaining and also act as the catalyst for regeneration in the surrounding area.

"Our appointment reflects the consortium's growing strength in masterplanning, transportation and design of some of the world's leading motor racing circuits and regeneration projects," Muscroft said. "The consortium understands how large sporting projects can be 'Urban Generators' that enhance and encourage development. We will lead the way with sports master-planning and sports community generation, and appreciate how considered designs can create significant value to neighbouring areas and communities.

"We are committed to delivering the next generation of racing circuits, with great racing, over-taking, world class facilities and architecture; but above all the intention is to create a sustainable venue that will not need continuous financial support, and will facilitate investment and re-generation."
