Was in Manchester today to catch an urgent bus to London, and saw the crowds building. Really badly wanted to stay and was very sorry to turn my back on it.

I'm never going to let that happen again, at whatever cost! :banghead::(

Why was the bus in a hurry? :hehe:

Well if I could've persuaded it to chill out I would've done, but it was a stubborn old mule...

As a massive Button and fan and living in Manchester, this was a dream come true for me, although there were alot of setbacks...

Event info said it started at 11am, Button eventually went in f1 car at 1pm.

British public are really annoying, everyone getting out their phones and cameras. I recognise they want evidence but I was there to view and listen to Button live, ive I watched f1 enough on screens over the years. Everyone using umbrellas as shields so you can't see anything, people pushing in and general stupid behaviour.

Overall it was really good, eventually got 15mins x 2 of seeing Jenson, the noise was amazing! Loved it. Also had pit crew practice, the f1 car on a stand and lots of other cools bits and pieces.

It also brought home how much skill it takes to drive it, it was fishtailing all over the place and looked insanely hard to keep on a straight and narrow on a wet track and 70mph limit.

Really nice day!

Glad you had a good time!

My bus was scheduled to depart Manchester at noon, so I arrived at 11 in the hope I'd catch Jenson. But, alas...as you said... :crying:

Bit harsh on the fans though! I saw only enthusiasm and excitement and passion.

It's a mule now?! All the way to London? The RSPCA will be after you!

As for the phones, I hear you on that one. The thing that annoys me is people take them out for anything even when there is nothing spectacular to see. At least they had something to see with their phone on this occasion.

Jenson Button takes on locals at private Dutch ‘Grand Prix’

5000 residents watch Vodafone Netherlands event

Fresh from his great second place finish at the Santander Italian GP at Monza, Jenson Button was in the Limburg village of Roggel driving in a private Grand Prix for residents.

While Jenson was racing the streets of the pretty Dutch village to promote the launch of Vodafone Netherlands new ‘Thuis’ superfast fibre optic services with, he was being chased by three locals, driving the same track on simulators.

The 5,000 tickets for the free event, which was only open to locals, were snapped up in three minutes and the crowds watched as Jenson fired up the 2008 championship-winning Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-23 and completed the circuit in 61s.

Jenson didn’t get everything his own way however. One of the challengers, Roy Heijmans, took advantage of local ‘track’ knowledge and recorded a time of 53s on the simulator to take the chequered flag!
