Ok this comes frtom one of hamilton's more 'passionate' fans
Jens isnt bad, he's quite good, His luck is pretty good also Id say. Ok he's had those two failures that were bad luck but other than that he's had some jammy things go for him.
Had he not taken Lewis off in Canada hed probably have finished 2nd....pretty unlucky day for Lewis. Lewis was underfuelled at Silverstones, so whilst not being as bad as Jens' error it stopped him getting on the podium or even better.
Stewards are VERY bad luck for lewis.
On the last race Lewis had no radio and jens benefitted from the decision Lewis/the team made re tyre choice.
I guess it all comes down to what floats your boat. A guy who keeps a cool head, can think ahead, drive conservatively, be a good stratgist, be patient, nurse tyres etc. Or a guy who drives by the seat of his pants, takes any sniff of an opportunity, will always try the overtake, can drag max out of a car and drive an ill handling car beyond its potental etc. Whichever of those lists of skills most does it for you will determine who you think is the best driver. Its all opinion.Of course if winning is what its all about you'd have to say schumacher is the best driver out there. He's won more. Not what its about for me...cos Im a passionate fan
If we look at the last 6 races.
Monaco: drove well, unlucky not to contend for lead.
Canada: Nuff said about this already.
EU: Boring race for all.
Silverstone: Mechanic error.
Germany: Car error.
Hungary: Had a good win.
I don't know how this compares to Hamilton as my memory is like a fish in regards to the other drivers. I remember him being borderline wreckless at some points during monaco and canada. Drove well in Silverstone and Germany and made a poor strategic decision last race.
The difference between other teams' #1 & #2 drivers is black and white with a 40-50% points difference. The difference in points between Button and Hamilton is around 10% and he had one more retirement. So why is it Lewis fans think he is the new Senna while regarding Button as the new Trulli? I agree Hamilton has more pace in the car, but sometimes pure pace cant win you a race, aka Hungary.
I don't believe in making you own luck. There is either a situation all drivers are in that they have no control of and gain favour from it (Vettel in Monaco), a situation that effects one driver and is a freak error they have no control over (Button in Silverstone) or a bad decision (Hamilton in Hungary).
I have respect for Hamilton, just not some of his more 'passionate' fans.
