For Alonso's fans hoping that rain will mean Vettel botches it: the last of the two to spin off in the rain (in a race) was Fernando in Belgium 2010.

I think the hope is that he will have an opportunity to genuinely be ahead of Vettel, rather than that Vettel will make a mistake.

I guess the hope is that he wins. It's very simple.
Amongst them two, he is the last one to win a wet race. Does THAT count? ;)

This really should be coming from one of the Teflonso fan boys, but didn't Vettel spin off while in the lead in Canada last year? Does that count? :wavey:

He didn't spin off, he went wide ;-)
If that happens to Vettel in Brazil, Alonso passing would still not be enough.

Ok, I'll drink to that! :drink:

Despite Lewis winning the race and Jenson coming back from 16th to finish fifth, I'd say that my driver of the day is Felipe Massa, having his race massively compromised by his team, deliberately breaking the seal on his gearbox so he'll get dropped five places to advantage Alonso. Ferrari may not have broken any rules but it's deeply unsporting in my view. Anyway back to Massa, to come from from 12th place after basically being screwed to bring his Ferrari home just behind Alonso is easily the drive of his season!

He did have some serious pace. While Lewis and Vettel were owning everyone else, whenever the caption "Fastest Lap - Felipe Massa" kept popping up I was like wtf??

My DOTD was Hamilton, easy. Always quick, always composed.

1st time as a Ferrari fan i've found myself cheering Hamilton on in a battle! Great Drive.

Might be in the minority here but think that the Ferrari "penalty" was the right decision - Alonso could have been out of the championship otherwise. Personally I dont see the difference between what Ferrari did and what Red Bull did in Abu Dhabi by putting a race setup on the Red Bull to negate the effect of a penalty!

On the race, great drive from Hamilton and deserved to win but what the hell was Vettel doing swerving in front of Lewis - had that ended in a collision Alonso would have been handed the win on a plate while Vettel would have scored nothing. Really stupid imo.

Feel sorry for Schumacher, great qualy lap but that Merc is awful. Not even Hamilton could win in that car!

Great drives from Massa and Button, average from Lotus (probably too cold for them) and Hulkenburg got some points again.

Onto Brazil, bring on the big finale :D

It was Vettel's best drive he was quick in defending and fought for everything and the battle between Hamilton and Vettel kept me on the edge of my seat the entire race. It was fantastic. Unfortunately he's such a sore loser. Makes it difficult to like him with such a gaping character flaw.

It comes down to Brazil when I genuinely thought it would be all over today.

Good on Hamilton for an extremely controlled and paced drive and a well earned victory after having a few snatched away from him by the racing gods. I'll be keeping an eye on the Ferrari/McLaren duel next week though for best of the rest in the WCC.

His comments were towards being held up by the HRT, not Lewis overtaking him.
Or do you believe applauding Hamilton after crossing the line is being a sore loser?

From what i heard it sounded like "He came so close, that was ridiculous!" right after Lewis owned him. How is this directed to the HRT again?

He'd relized he'd lost by that point. It's my opinion... I wish he simply would shut up and drive, no one on the grid likes to hear himself talk more than Vettel. Watch any podium interview and calculate the time spent talking. He was wrong to bad mouth a driver that could go no where it's not the first time he's thrown the toys out of the pram when things don't go his way.

Pity though because like I said, it was the best cat and mouse evenly matched duel we've had all year.

EDIT, without knowing the radio delay, we won't know whom it was directed to... it would be tenfold worse if it was said because of Lewis' overtake.
#334923
It was indeed because of the overtake, on Sky sports Anthony Davidson, Brundle and all put it down to Vettel just 'venting' due to losing the lead.

In truth of course, its more a case of Malaysia all over again:

Circuit of the Americas delivered. Great venue, with a beautiful flow to it turn one, turn 19, the esses, turn 11 very good and challenging racing all around and more importantly it looks like it's a fantastic venue for fans to view the racing.

Don't know if it was said by other broadcasters in Europe but they've taken to calling turn 1 Fill Hill. :hehe:

That was a great race. Full marks to Tilke for this one. And how much better is the racing when they're not saving stupid tyres. Please bring the wrong tyres every timePirelli!!! And Lewis. An absolute pleasure ro watch. Seb lost his rag again when he lost the place. But some great racing up and down the field. Loved this race!!!!
