Maybe Ron saying what he did about Jenson was to get under Lewis skin. Some mind games at work. Not sure it would work though. If what was written about Ron badmouthing Lewis is true. Maybe the ship has sailed on Lewis' attachment to Ron

Sent using NCC-1701

If it's mind games then it can only mean Ron is blowing roses up Lewis' exhaust. At a team like McLaren with Ron's famous ethos of what a 'McLaren driver' is, with the policiy of having the best available drivers, the worst thing he could say about a driver is to compare them to Senna - but not for driving skills.
We know what Ron's said about Lewis' skills confirming him along with Senna and Mika as his top 3 for speed, to say Button is good at wrapping the team around him and also to say he is fit and experienced is basically saying to Lewis - if I'd been around none of that would have mattered, a guy like that is a mentor or keep fit coach - never my 'McLaren driver'

So basically saying 'please come back and you wouldn't have to get on with everyone - just be like Senna on track, I'll take care of the staff'

IMHO

WoW, Cookin! You must really know Ron Dennis quite well to have inferred all that from his "Ronspeak"!
So... are you able to share a "direct" comparison between Hamilton and Senna, made by him?

Ron isn't stupid. Ok, he's quirky ,but he's run enough drivers in his life to know the wheat from the chaff. He's a proud man and he's a man whose worked damn hard for what he's got. It can't have been easy for him seeing McLaren loose Lewis, and now the acute disappointment of that is over, and he has some control of the situation back, I guess he will be starting to think long term future.I'm pretty certain he knows who the best drivers in f1 are and if he hasn't got them then he has to work with what he has got and make the best of it......but Ron is back!!!!!! and I've far more confidence that McLaren will do well now that he's in control........and since this is the Lewis thread, how is that relevant? Well I believe Ron would like Lewis to be driving for McLaren and is maybe hopeful it will happen in the future.

Thanks! Its just about hearing and taking in what Ron has said about drivers over the years. And ofcourse not to get caught up in the big words he uses as he tries to express himself absolutely.

As far as direct comparison, Ron has inferred that Lewis is exactly like Senna and Mika in all 3 being the finest drivers he has worked with over 30 years. So Lewis is like Ayrton in that they are both the finest
Over that period, the Englishman hired some of the most illustrious drivers the sport has ever seen, including the likes of Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, Keke Rosberg, Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen, Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton – world champions all. Asked to pick the cream of the crop, he narrows it down to three.

Here is a quote from someone who knew Aryton even better than his team boss

LONDON - Formula One sensation Lewis Hamilton collected an armful of trophies at an awards ceremony on Sunday and heard Ayrton Senna's sister compare him to the late Brazilian great.

"He reminds me of Ayrton as a pilot (driver) and also as a good man," Viviane Senna told the audience at the Autosport Awards attended by many of the luminaries of motor sport.

"We can see this in his eyes and his face."

I would say his sisters testimony is useful than a team boss who has to manage drivers

having said that, here is what another team boss who managed Senna and :duckie: had to say about LH44
"Today, [Sebastian] Vettel is very good. And Lewis [Hamilton]. If you said to me that all the drivers today are free and they're all desperate to get into Williams, I would say: 'Send in Lewis.'

It was relevant to the McLaren thread because Hamilton was at McLaren and because
we were "discussing" Ron Dennis and his comments about Button, as they are both at McLaren.

To clarify, my original question was:

Just of out curiousity, has Ron Dennis compared Hamilton to Senna?
I ask because I was curious and googled it; but, the only thing that
comes up is other people making the comparison!

Edit: Maybe this question should be in the Hamilton thread?

Well... Frank Williams is British and his team is, so it's no surprise that, given the option,
of choosing between two equally good drivers, he'd go for the British driver.

Sagi what exactly are you wanting to know? Your question below has been answered by others already, with their interpretation of ronspeak. If you don't agree with it, move on maybe....and if you don't believe team bosses are able to pick drivers based on talent rather than nationality, thats' your right. But what's with the persistent arguing even after your questions have been answered?

If RD has never mentioned Senna in a line with Lewis, what does that prove? You'd like to think that he doesn't believe Lewis is like Senna? Ok so what?

This is irrelevant in the context of explaining Rons comparison of :duckie: or Lewis to Senna as you requested. You wanted a comaprison of Lewis to Senna and I showed you Rons and threw in another TP who had managed Senna saying he would ship Lewis in. But not Button who is British. So another TP who employed Senna picks Lewis as the cream of the crop, as did big Ron

How about you calm down?

I asked if Ron Dennis had made a "direct" comparison between Hamilton and Senna,
like he recently did between Button and Senna. Although "direct" quotes weren't
provided, it's obvious from what others have posted that Ron Dennis rates Hamilton
up there with Senna. I did not question that.

However, RC asked why this discussion was going on in the Hamilton thread and I
replied by copying and pasting my original question.

I wasn't asking that it be answered... again... so... Chill...

p.s. thanks to Cookin and RC for the helpful info!! :wavey:

Ron doesnt really compare real drivers as they are all different. With Button he was just trying to find a way of comparing him to a real racing driver :hehe:

I wasn't questioning you here Sagi, I was just trying to bring my own random thoughts regarding the workings of Ron Dennis' mind back to the Hamilton thread.....so the 'how is its relevant' was actually my way of saying ...this is relevant to the Lewis thread for this reason.

Hers may have been a rhetorical question; but, I didn't want to risk that assumption.
Now... did you read my response before you hit the reply button?
Or is that an automatic response? :P
