All Vettel needs to do is get on the podium and he's Champion. Even 4th would do it. Ferrari might want to do a rain dance starting from this second.

great great race from Lewis, pure racer, one chance and he took it, Seb was great as well considering his WC battle,

not sure why Button is receiving so much praise, he did ok, he only overtook slower teams, Massa started ahead and stayed ahead despite being used by his team, Webber dropped out,

Merc obviously focussed on next year by their results

very good result for Lewis and his chances of maxing his income from branding

At least Massa was able to salvage 4th.

Yes... Best result possible for Massa after being screwed over by his team. Here is the thing I don't like most about what Ferrari did: The American fans keep getting screwed over with controversy after controversy each American grand prix. I don't think what Ferrari did will boil over to a big thing, but to think that we could have been close to another big disappointment for the American fans, and the expense of Ferrari's anti-fair play was stupid.

But ultimately what is stupid is the 5 place grid drop to start with. There has to be a better way to punish drivers for misdemeanours instead of affecting guys all around them on the grid. But then, I guess it just highlights why it is important to get pole position, because there, you know you will always start on the clean side of the track regardless of what penalties are imposed on other drivers.

I do think that changing a 5-place grid drop to a 6-place drop would be a slight improvement on the rule, but would not have changed the situation at the start of this race.

What happened to Mercedes after Schumacher qualifying in 7th?

This is the biggest disappointment. Schumacher does not deserve to go out this way.... :(

Apparently Niki Lauda on German TV is talking about Lewis's win and then going on to say that Mercs have a surprise for us all next year, hmm 2009 all over again.:clap:

They also said that at the start of this season, and the end result was embarassing. They really are one of the most useless teams on the grid. I hope that they improve soon, and I do want them to stay because we NEED more engine constructor teams in the sport, instead of just privateers...

Ferrari may have the fastest car in the rain, but Vettel in the rain could finish 4th in a Torro Rosso :hehe:

Great vibe during that interview, great crowd of people.

Actually, Ferrari engine is the thing for rain. And the right strategy, of course. ;)

So Vettel and Ricciardo switch seats in Brazil?

Hahaha, nice one! X)

For Alonso's fans hoping that rain will mean Vettel botches it: the last of the two to spin off in the rain (in a race) was Fernando in Belgium 2010.

Btw, that bloody talentless Karthikeyan causing troubles again!!! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Why, cause he can't magically make his car disappear off the face of the planet? Come on man... :hehe:

Come on, he had plenty opportunities to move aside... FFS, he is last in every race...

It was known all weekend that traffic in the first sector is possible cause there's only one real line. Everyone accepted that fact. Well, they had before the race! :hehe:

I think the hope is that he will have an opportunity to genuinely be ahead of Vettel, rather than that Vettel will make a mistake.

This really should be coming from one of the Teflonso fan boys, but didn't Vettel spin off while in the lead in Canada last year? Does that count? :wavey:

He didn't spin off, he went wide ;-)
If that happens to Vettel in Brazil, Alonso passing would still not be enough.

But just being ahead still doesn't give Alonso the championship. He needs to be ahead massively, which realistically will only happen through a mistake or a mechanical issue.
