We know Ferrari started on their engine years ago, same time as Merc and most definitely before Renault. Rory Brynne their most successful engineer was assigned over to lead a team already in existence and working exclusively on the Turbo. And we shouldnt forget Ferrari bending the rules to track test the engine in an Enzo mule - so I cannot see how last seasons car is a factor? They had a separate team and track car for the turbo. If one could test 2014 engine parts on the 2013/2012 car how can 2014 regulations be a completely new engine spec, I cant believe anyone has said that, its like saying ICE dont have spark plugs or dont cause pollution :confused:

In 2012, Byrne was called in to look at the Ferrari F2012 F1 car after it had a troubled start to its life.[3] He was also involved in the design of Ferrari F70.[citation needed]

In February 2013, at the launch of F138 - in interview to the German Auto Motor und Sport Rory Byrne said that he is "working full steam" on Ferrari’s 2014 F1 car, in an advisory role.

Full disclosure for those that don't have a MiaScuderia passes, Spanky answered my post in fair but somewhat debatable statements. A lot of is is simply definitions and how we have and do perceive things differently. He even said I was right about a few things.

I thought the whole idea of a public open forum is to discuss things in the open so we may all learn new things?

Whats the point of making claims and offering opinions in public and only qualifying them to a carefully selected audience

A sudden loss of transparency in a democratic process is usually the start of a dictatorship

pray tell us the response so we may be similarly enlightened, I am particularly interested in how Ferrari forced an extra year to prepare yet demand special dispensation to prepare some more

+1.... the question and discussions were in this forum, but finally a response comes in a private lounge? Might as well be a PM.

The forum has become so much more open and free and fun recently as well, with more and more coming off the sidelines, and even Roth feeling comfortable enough to provide us with his thoughts

I have to agree. I don't know why some people have to huddle in secret. What's the fun in that? I just don't get this sorry.

I've been busy with life crap and haven't had a chance to roll up my sleeve to respond to his response. When I do, I can post it here and there and we can carry the conversation forward. I mean we're talking about clearly defined events so there's not much wiggle room for interpretation but like I said I feel his response was fair but from a different perspective as mine.

Hiding on a deserted island can be fun.....you don't get people from the real world coming and screwing your head up with facts and reasoning.

Life is just simpler for the them.

I look at it as furthering technology for the engine suppliers, all the efficiency stuff that they learn from F1 will filter down to the road going cars eventually.

Yes, I can see the business imperative for production car companies to transfer costs and use F1 for their R & D. Still doesn't change my personal view that I watch F1 to see racing, not conservation or R & D.

Will Ferrari also see ANY trickle down effect from F1 to road cars? Have you changed your mind about the 2014 regs being in place ONLY to suit some secret agenda of the manufacturers bar Ferrari?
Could Ferrari be partly responsible for turning F1 into a conservation show with no exciting RACING on display this year compared to the v8 era?
Will you respond at all? and if so here or in the secured area?

But why only a Ferrari room? I personally am not interested in closeting myself only with like minded people, but others on the forum may want to do that. We may have a group of Maldonado fans who wish to extol his virtues in private. Or a secret room for McLaren fans? It just seems an odd thing to me to go on an F1 forum and not want to debate things openly.

Whats odder for me is to put forward 'bold' opinions and claims in the open threads, yet refuse to discuss them in public. Why not keep them private in the first place?
Could lead to a lot of misunderstandings

But why only a Ferrari room?

As I said, I enjoy reading and posting in both ... so its not "only" the Mia Scuderia Lounge

.. Or a secret room for McLaren fans? ..

If we were trying to keep it a secret we're doing a pretty cr4p job then :hehe:

As I said I contribute and enjoy both side, sorry if it upsets up that I can enjoy multiple places on the net.

There really is no need to believe that we're posting negative comments about anyone in Mia Scuderia!!
Think of the forum as being one big "dinner party" where there is a general conversation going on, and
the Ferrari Lounge as being a quiet on-the-side conversation that branches off from the general one.
It happens all the time, whenever there is a gathering of people. :wavey:
