I still think that Vettel's move on Raikkonen was great. He really fancies overtaking from the outer line...
Hamilton also, with his favorite spot on 2 Williams drivers... I don't like this DRS overtakes.

Why don't you rewind a few corners before this moment...and see what Vettel did on the back straight? He was on the left side of the track, swerved right almost running Hamilton off the road, and then swerved back into the racing line at the braking zone. This was attempting to BLOCK. He made two moves on the straight.

If you tell me to which exact second I should rewind, I'll have a look. But whether or not Vettel also illegally blocked does not in any way say anything about whether Hamilton's moves were illegal.

Not sure where the Lewis made an illegal move is coming from, but there were other and more egregious moves during the GP so that you point at that, you must understand why someone would question the motivation. IMO, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing a race free of accidents and boneheaded moves and most importantly free of arbitrary and often patronizingly handed down penalties.

It was a GP free of blemishes, enjoy it even if it wasn't the result you may have hoped for.

The thing with DRS is that when it works it's brilliant, and when it doesn't it's either useless/pointless or so gratuitous it makes you feel dirty like a cheap hooker. It's so hard getting it right, and in China, they got it right. There were also plenty of overtakes that had nothing to do with DRS!

I disagree with you on DRS. As you all know, I've been a long time supporter. Apart from once or twice, the activation of DRS lead to the car being ALONGSIDE the other when it otherwise would've encountered prohibitive dirty air. There were no situations yesterday which saw a car breezing past easily. This is what DRS is all about, and it hugely benefited the race yesterday.

DRS bashing is really old and tiring now, and quite frankly, unwarranted.

I just said I don't like it, it doesn't mean I'm against it... I like some brave moves, like the ones I described above.

Button and Hamilton on Vettel were brave, and risky, and skillful. Just because DRS helped break down certain aerodynamic barriers doesn't make one has to take all merit away from them.

HEY! So was Webber's pass on Vettel okay, you McLaren fan boy! :hehe:

How could I forget?

Yes, it was all skillful and brilliant overtaking. Anyone who says they loved yesterday's race, yet still bash DRS is barmy IMO.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is how Lewis asked Nico right after race "did you even have to overtake anyone...?" lol. I'm wondering the same here...not to take anything away from his win....did he really overtake anyone for position?
#299567
Haha yeah...well that's not Nico's fault of course, you make life easy for yourself when you qualify on pole and your team doesn't produce crappy gearboxes.

Nico did say his team kept giving him different names as to who was in 2nd position in various points of the race. :hehe:

Hammer, I think you and I would have sh*t ourselves if that question came from a vettel fan

The motivation is that someone previously in this thread posted a rather silly comment, unprovoked as far as I noticed, criticising unknown and unnamed persons who were criticising Hamilton for weaving when that's just "breaking the tow". Look for my first post, then just above it. Hence I followed up showing that it there is actually gold plated evidence of Hamilton's moves being against the rules. By posting a link to the video, specifying the exact seconds to watch, and then quoting the relevant rules.

Defending a driver is one thing, but defending a driver when there's unmistakeable video evidence that they're in the wrong. Well, that's just silly.

And defending a driver because someone else apparently did something worse. Even if this did happen (has anyone posted the example yet?), it doesn't excuse anything Hamilton did.
