Run on arguments are like run on sentences, someone's got to put a period on them. So let's end the back and forth shall we? Any continuation of it is pointless, other than trying to get the thread locked.
...and could draw other consequences
A session at the dungeon?
After a session in the hole!
Is it a dark hole and are chains involved?

That and some nice torches and big fat candles

This is sounding more and more like a Max Mosley party. Just as well the News of the World ain't around no more!
One thing Vettel has had no shortage of this season is luck. Hard to believe he isn't Irish. While we revel in the great theatre of a Hungaroring in the rain, Horner and Newey rejoice over the cannibalism taking place among their their rivals. Twenty laps in, disaster looked to be looming over the RBR paddock but by race end, Vettel had managed to extend his WDC lead.
If Vettel wins three more races and comes second in a fourth, he will be a single point shy of a mathematically insurmountable lead. Four more wins would put him well clear.
Or if he wins two more races, comes second twice and third once, he could go on holiday the final three races of the season and still would win WDC. Or if he wants to stick out the entire season, seven thirds and a fourth also will clinch the world driving title.
Except that Hamilton, Button and Alonso continue to hack at each other as well as Vettel, so Vettel could have a monumentally mediocre remainder of the season and the title still should be settled before Brazil.
Absolutely. They've got such a lot to make up, but the infighting is making that nigh on impossible.

Crunching the numbers, Vettel's lead over 2nd place Webber now is greater than Buttons was over SV after the 10th race of the 2009 season, both by percentage and the number of 1st place finishes represented by the difference. Yet Button averaged coming fifth for the final six races of the season -- not counting the one DNF -- and still had enough points at Singapore, with three races remaining, to win WDC.
Vettel, Barrichello, Webber, Hamilton and Räikkönen (#s 2-6 in WDC) shared those final seven victories, and 14 total podium results between them.
Anybody else see a pattern here?
SV 2009 edition had 5 non-scoring races or else JB would not have won the title.

Might be a more viable claim had he not span off at Malaysia and binned it into Kubica and the barrier at Melbourne and Monaco respectively...

Former world champion Jenson Button believes that Sebastian Vettel will be hard pressed to throw away his enormous championship lead when the season returns from its summer break at Spa in two weeks time.
The McLaren driver has seen the reigning world champion accelerate into a commanding position at the top of the drivers' standings, thanks to Red Bull's dominance over his team and fellow rivals Ferrari.
The German holds an 85-point lead over his team-mate Mark Webber with Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Button himself trailing in his wake.
Eight races are left on the calendar for 2011, however the reliability of Christian Horner's impressive outfit means that Vettel is unlikely to rack up any DNFs before the season's end while he will be looking to stay out of trouble on the track.
McLaren and Ferrari have enjoyed a resurgence of sorts in the last five Grand Prix, nevertheless the qualifying pace of Red Bull allied to their other strengths leave Button and co with a monumental challenge to overhaul Vettel.
Button declared, "It wasn't easy for me to win consistently by the end of the year but he still has a massive lead. He has no need to take risks and he's driving a competitive car.
"He's facing an eight-race World Championship and he's starting it with an 80-point lead! That's a massive gap. And he's still in one of the quickest cars. That's the best position possible.
"Red Bull has great resources, so it's a different situation to the one I found myself in with Brawn. And if I had the lead he's got, I wouldn't be feeling any pressure at all!
"He's already won the World Championship, which is very important. You don't feel the pressure so much, when you've already done it. It's not the pressure other people put on you, it's the pressure you put on yourself to win.
"I still would love to win another World Championship and that's why I am here. I don't think any driver who wins a World Championship suddenly isn't interested in fighting for another."
