Yeah Bottas said he didn't realise he was a lap down, and wanted to get ahead as sitting behind someone will grain your tyres (his team should have told him). But then he said it was a racing incident so it sounds like he feels the penalty was a bit harsh too.

You have to wonder what Bottas was doing there. Was he going to drive around the outside of Hamilton, and expect to gain the advantage?

If he hadn't been hit he probably would have had to yield mid-corner anway. Silly move.

Silly move ,but these things happen, the real crime is the unfair stewards.

It was a racing incident, I don't think Lewis deserved a Drive Through but to call the Stewards racist is stretching it a lot in my view.

The drivers' point of reference is the rulebook.

Rule: Leave the space of a car's width for the opponent to stay on track.

WB's pic shows that there was another half meter at least on the side of Bottas before the white line and Bottas didn't use it. They touch and Bottas sorry ar$e race is over. Let's not forget this is the guy who was getting creamed by everyone else in a matter of laps prior to this incident and wanted to flex some muscle after a bruised ego and guess what, it's Lewis who was in the way.

Lewis limps back to the pits due to the racing incident (thanks to Bottas not knowing how to use the space given) losing about 20 od seconds at least (more than the length of a drive through), and as soon as he comes out, is awarded another 20 second time loss. What the fr!ck? It just looked plain retarded from the outside. That Blundell guy or whatever, when was he racing F1 cars again? Maybe when dinosaurs weren't extinct yet, I don't know but he certainly isn't on planet Earth.

Anyone saying this was "Hamilton's fault because he moved into Bottas", sorry to say you either haven't been watching F1 for too long or need a patient hand in understanding the basics of racing and how it works. :wavey:

I think people have said its a racing incident, not a racist incident, although what on earth inspired that choice of a drive thru is anybody's guess,

I know the difference between racing incident and RACIST incident, I just posted in the wrong thread, someone did call the stewards racist for giving Hamilton a penalty. You can probably find it on the Brazil GP thread. Also while I'm here, why is Jenson Button being allowed to be characharised by a yellow duck? I thought this forum disallowed name calling. Hrmmmm, when the Mods are fans the sensibilites go. Shame on you!

Yeah Hammer, there may have been a half meter gap to the right of Bottas, but there was a 5 meter one to the left of Hamilton, so contact shouldn't have been made as Hamilton drifted into Bottas like Sutil into Maldo in Austin. It was a racing incident and the penalty was stupid.

Because this forum doesn't provide a pink duck.

I thought you said you were leaving this forum and never coming back?

I was just going on what the presenters said. I had not seen that view before

You need better presenters, that's what I saw on my television in the world feed... where were they looking?

The only rear view was zoomed in so you could only see to the width of the cars

Well of course, how else would they be able to comment against it otherwise? I mean, Sky, the BBC or me with my PVR and a cell phone camera. :hehe:

Well normally a "choice" stewards have is to wait until after the race and interview drivers... It's a choice that's been used plenty this year, but they didn't do that of course. It's Hamilton and it's Brazil and it was a predatory penalty which in the end meant nothing, Mercedes attained their goal.

Maybe the stewards felt that they had to balance the Massa penalty with a Hamilton one. What with the 2008 race and all. It was a bit suspicious not to wait till after the race to speak to each driver when Bottas could have confirmed he didnt realise he was a lap down

That did cross my mind. I felt the. Massa one was harsh at the time ( didn't know then he'd been warned and done it several times). I felt for Massa. So yes when, Lewis got one so quick and for nothing I thought Hmmm, I wonder........

The Maldonado one was left til after race and came back as nothing.
