I head a statistic during SPEEDtv coverage of Turkey that stuck with me. With this win over the weekend, he's reached the podium in 50% of his F1 career races.

To be honest it's not a massive achievement; given that Lewis has been in a top car for much of his career; 50% podium finishes isn't that spectacular.

You make a valid point, but I guess in general the better the driver, the better the car he'll have under him from a business standpoint. An example would be Ferrari wooing Robert Kubica now) I know squat about F1 history, but I know not every rookie that comes on board gets to drive for a top shelf team like Lewis has. I don't know if there are other examples or what the record of your typical winning F1 driver and see what their podium percentage is.

I would say in general; most rookie drivers end up starting their F1 career in a team like Lotus, HRT or Virgin and if they can impress; for example getting much more out of your car than your team mate; will get you noticed; Fernando Alonso is a good example of that; another is Michael Schumacher who started his F1 career in a Jordan. Lewis is almost the exception as he was a protege of McLaren since the age of 12 when he was still karting. Another driver that had to work through the ranks is Sebastian Vettel; starting his career with BMW becoming the youngest driver to ever score a point before a move to Toro Rosso; winning in a car that really shouldn't have been winning races.

I've enjoyed the fight between the two so far this year. Jens has not been swept aside like some predicted, but Lewis is still a fine racing driver as Jens is.

To comment on the tussle they had in Turkey, I think the move Jens made on Lewis was excellent if a little opportunist, however when Lewis saw the red mist and banzaid him back into turn one Jens had the experience and maturity to let him through rather than crash out. So it's a case of a young fiery (and talented) driver verses an experienced, mature and smooth one, great combination for the team and one I am enjoying watching.

Absolutely. It was the most exciting few corners of the season so far for me. I hope we see a few more good clean tussles for position between these two in the future.

Let's be honest shall we, i know you have tried to make it seem you are non bias but it's clear you are.

Jenson could not catch Lewis, the only reason he was able to overtake Lewis is because of the conserve fuel command that was given to "both" drivers. Because of this Lewis slowed down and was not flat out, Jenson in his unsportsmanship way thought he would have a quick pop and overtook Lewis. Now you say that Lewis "saw red" and because Jenson is mature he "let" Lewis over take him?

See, this is where your bias shows, Jenson could not stop Lewis overtaking him, he had no answer when Lewis came back at him, saying that Jenson "let" Lewis overtake him shows your little bit of Bias.

Now, let's talk about Jenson, he has not performed that well since the Asia circuits where the rain and the crafty smart tyre moves helped him win, so i say that, unless it rains Jenson really is not saying anything.

Let's go down the if road shall we, if Lewis would not of had that puncher he would be 14 points clear of Jenson and leading the championship now, but he isn't so that's how it goes. Jenson is not in the same league as Lewis or the Alonso's of this world.

Unless something goes wrong, Lewis will be in front of Jenson after Canada unless it rains then Jenson can use the tyre trick to win the race. What if the Tyre trick would not of worked, Jenson would be near the bottom of the leader board. I said it then that Jenson can't rely on rain and tyre tricks to win him the championship. :yikes:

How bias are you towards Hamilton? What is the difference between a good driver and a great one? one that thinks during the race about what is happening, Jens did this "Mystical" Tyre Trick twice to great success.. maybe if a certain good drive though during the race he would one day be a great racing driver!

Actually I agree with Ineluke. Jenson has been pretty lucky with those races and I pick Lewis in a dry race every day. Jenson has had his luck while Lewis has been very unlucky in the first races, even though I believe Lewis will pass him in WDC in Canada.

Jenson's had bad luck to.

He was hardly miles of the pace of Lewis anyway.

he had bad luck in Monaco, where he wasn't at a good position either... Otherwise he has been pretty lucky

He made his own luck!

I think it's more accurate to say he was capable of making decisions for himself, whereas Lewis was having to rely on the pit wall. That's something that comes with experience; I fully expect that Lewis will learn to do so in time. And then he'll be quite scary on-track, actually.

Why is this argument still going on?

Do you want the truth or should I offer a polished opinion :hehe: ???
