What you were paying for previously is worth it to you and you make use of it, and if you have an interest in other sports then sure sky sports is worth it too, the thing is though that I have no interest in any other sky channels. I would have no objection to paying sky for the channel on it's own at a reasonable price but I'm not going to pay for it as part of a package with other channels I don't want.

And that I wholeheartedly understand, and have no issues with.

Its the people that come on here, and claim to love F1, moan about not being able to see all races live, but refuse to get sky (not becasue of cost) but because of their hatred for Rupert Murdoch.

BUT, for an exqample, I bet at the same time if those same people sawsomeone by this audio CD here, they would see nothing wrong in buying it. But it is published by Caedmon. Caedmon are owned by.... Haper Collins Publishers..... who are subsidiary of ..... yes, you guessed it - News Corporation. But becasue its not so obvious, people would be fine with it.

I think people just need to think about their statements a bit more. Especially when it comes to getting on a soapbox, and banging on about how they will never give RM a penny..... especially when his grubby little fingers are in a LOT of pies.....

Oh, and I hope none of you have ever enjoyed an episode of The Simpsons.

My views about Murdoch and his empire are valid LRW. If you are comfortable giving him your money that is your business, however I am not and that is my business. I do not understand why you are attempting to deflect the argument onto Murdoch anyway when it is Mark Thompson and the BBC which have behaved abysmally in this matter. It is an unfortunate consequence that SKY happen to be benefiting from this fiasco and they may yet be implicated if there's a thorough inquiry. I live in hope...

It strikes me that you are being just a little disingenuous...

p.s. And no, I don't watch The Simpsons, never have...

You seem to think my posts are aimed at you. They are not. I've already stated that. Learn to read. I will not respond to you again.

I race lasts 90 minutes maximum. Highlights will be 90 minutes minimum. Some folk are acting as though we're going to get to see 5 minutes-worth of racing...

OK, it's not ideal. But it's far from the apocalypse.

It's going to be a 90 minute highlights program; how much of that 90 minutes will be actual race time? I think it'll be 10 minutes of punditry before the race and 20 minutes afterwards, so we will probably see 60 minutes of actual race footage. Which is not so bad given that probably, for at least 60% of the race, nothing much happens!

If you are happy with this state of affairs then good for you, I am not however. If we just lie down and accept the current situation then should the Concorde renegotiations find in favour of PPV, SKY will take charge of the lot. That will mean no F1 on FTA channels anywhere in Europe. That's fine for all those who can afford the full SKY package but it alienates anyone who can't or won't pay for PPV.

I'm not happy with the state of affairs. And nor can I afford Sky. But the time has since passed where I make a stink about it. Nothing will change for the foreseeable future, and I'm going to make do with what I can get. As a dedicated fan of the sport, my interest will not decline and I will continue to watch the "coverage" on the BBC religiously.

I've wanted Sky for a long time and I really wanted a reason to get it.

As soon as I found out that the BBC was losing the coverage and Sky was getting full rights, I was very annoyed, as most fans were.

But, I just recently (on Monday) got Sky+ HD installed in my bedroom. Why? Because I'm obsessed with F1 and BBCs lacklustre (not their fault) coverage just won't do for me. I'm paying £30.25 per month for the Sky Sports F1 HD channel and the Entertainment Pack from Sky. That's not too bad for my liking.

When it was originally only available to customers with Sky Sports 1 & 2, it was over my budget at £50.25 per month. But ever since Sky have been offering the SSF1HD channel to those who take a HD upgrade subscription (£10.25 extra per month) I could finally afford Sky. The Entertainment Pack by itself is £20.25 per month and the £10.25 per month HD subscription gives me SSF1HD and around 60 other HD channels.

While I loved and respected the BBC's coverage, I can't help but applaud Sky's efforts. I can only just afford it but I know it'll be worth it for a huge F1 nut like myself. Every practice session, qualifying session and race of the 2012 F1 season, the GP2 and GP3 races, a weekly Friday-night magazine show, an F1 Legends show, Martin Brundle, Ted Kravitz, an F1 Memories show and more! Like Martin Brundle said, "You'll won't miss a thing with Sky Sports F1 HD".
I wish Sky got David Coulthard, Eddie Jordan and Jake Humphrey but maybe the new presenters will grow on me. However, I'll miss the banter the BBC had!

The BBC's coverage was second-to-none, but Sky have really put their backs into this one. Even Sky's website is better than the BBC's now. :)

I can never understand when folk say this about the BBC coverage. I found it impossible to watch! Far too much BS waffle before and after the race. Not like it was in the Murray Walker days before it went to ITV. The presenters on BBC 1 were awful, with the exception of David Coulthard who did often speak sense! But each to their own of course.

I liked the features they had and the banter between the presenters.

The coverage of the races is provided by FOM so I don't count that but I think their coverage took one deeper into the sport.

I agree with you calvin, I thoroughly enjoyed the BBC's coverage. The banter between the presenters was mint, and they had some insightful features. The red button coverage was also a joy to watch.

Keep us updated on what the Sky coverage is like! I can't afford it at the moment, so I'm remaining with the BBC.

If you put The Chain over that it'd be absolutely frigging brilliant. But it isn't.
