No Lewis was at fault as it was no way an opportunity to get passed.GEEZ I'm a Lewis fan for FOOK SAKE and still people argue he was right.I can now see why people hate Lewis fans so much *blinkered* is all I can say.

Than Massa was at fault for hitting Webber, he did about as much damage to his own front wing hitting Webber as Hamilton did to his own front wing hitting Massa.

So is it fair to say Massa should get some kind of penalty?

You are assuming that at speed, turning into an apex that the driver is also watching that tiny mirror to see what the guy behind him is doing. It's entirely likely that Massa defended simply because he knew Lewis was back there and had no idea he was being bonzai'd until the collision occurred. That is why, as the driver behind, you wait until the last moment to dive up the inside instead of telegraphing it well before hand...you want to be there before they realize you are coming. The problem here is Hamilton wasn't there, meaning he wasn't alongside before Massa turned in....he started his move too late and knocked Massa aside. That's not a legal move.

All i can say is go rewatch the overtake, Massa turned in very very early so early infact that he was never going to make the apex of the corner, he had every right to do so but Hamilton was pretty much committed to the corner at that point and Massa gave him only 1 choice and that was a collision.

As i said aswell Massa actually hit Webber which shows how early he turned in and that collision actually did similar damage as his collision with Hamilton.

Personally i couldn't care less if its Hamilton or if it was Vettel, Alonso or Webber for example i would feel the exact same way, Hamilton just has much more aggressive driving style so takes more chances and its why i love watching him (same with Kobayashi).

I just don't understand why a large majority on this forum seem to dislike overtaking in general since anytime there is an overtake that doesn't go perfectly there is a 20 page thread thrown up about how dangerous it was! this is racing for gods sake if you don't want to see drivers going wheel to wheel maybe you should change to something like Rallying or some kind of time trial sport where the lap times are the only racing you will see.

Overtaking especially on a track like Monaco will always involve a certain level of risk and unless they remove tracks like Monaco where overtaking is so hard or remove overtaking altogether these incidents will always pop up, why is it mostly Hamilton involved in these incidents? because he is 1 of the few drivers now days that will actually take a chance on an overtake instead of settling for the position he is stuck in.

It was Lewis hitting him that caused the collision.Surely you can see that ?

So what do you think of Massa going off the racing line and hitting Webber?

I've just watched the incident again several times. Massa hit Webber because of Hamilton's stupid move. Once Hamilton put the nose of his car beside Massa's rear wheel, Massa had nowhere else to go, and contact with with Hamilton and Webber was inevitable.

Massa would have had to go up onto the kerb in order to miss Webber.

Hamilton nudged him into Webber yes but his angle and pace into that corner is what caused the contact with Webber.

vettel got away with it today, he managed his tyres well enough to be worthy of the win, but its a pretty hollow one.

Huh? Why hollow? Had it been JB doing the tire managing, everybody on here would go ooh and ahh about his smooth driving style, but when SV shows the skill of a champion it's luck (as many on here stated) and hollow.

Switching to newer tires with 5 laps to go = skills of a champion? Alonso was about to eat him for breakfast when the red came out. U serious? His skills of a champion would've put him second without the red.

Please Peng take those Lewis tinted glasses off,I'm the one argueing with you and I'm a Lewis fan. What fans of other teams/drivers are making of your drivel is beyond me

Also Webber looked like a spent force in that after race interview. He was counting on someone (anyone) nailing Seb today. It didn't happen so thats him out of the picture, championship wise now IMO.

Another few wins for Seb and it will be everyone out of the picture though, so he shouldn't feel too hard done by.

Wonder what Bernie thinks about a championship knocked on the head by Spa??

Did you really think a second rate driver like Webber would be in contention for the title with a good driver like Vettel when he got his act together ?

I have rewatched the collision, as well as the laps before that. Many drivers, whether being challenged or not, turned in as Massa did. There was nothing particularly unusual as to how early Massa turned in. And Massa hitting Webber was nothing to do with how early Massa had turned in, as Webber had also already turned in. It was all to do with Hamilton's bonehead move which meant that contact was inevitable.

Lol :p as i said it has nothing to with Hamilton i don't believe aggressive driving should be punished and you clearly do which to me makes me wonder why you watch F1 in the first place.

I take it you've never driven in a race ?

Me? no i am not a racing driver, if i was i probably wouldn't spend any time on forums like these as it would drive me crazy.

Your entire argument is based on a policy that aggressive driving is a bad thing and should be punished.

I am just pointing out that both drivers were equally at fault and neither driver came out with any major damage so i cannot for the life of me see why people are so damn upset, disagree all you like he got a penalty and i am 100% fine with that, i just think if they are handing out penalties for this than they need to follow through in the rest of the season and gives penalties for any minor touching.

He drove 50+ laps with that set of tires FFS :banghead: And he most likely could have held off FA on this hard-to-overtake track and win it. At any rate, 57 laps on a set that according to Pirelli should last 30-35 laps at best, that is some skill for you.

I think Webber thought he was in with a shout this season. Hamilton did too up until today, but this looks like a turning point to me. If Seb gets a win in Montreal (or even a podium) and another good result in Valencia, I think it will be game over for Alonso/Button/Hamilton and see you all in 2012.

There are quire a few of us who want to see aggressive driving, but there is a line beyond which "aggressive" becomes plain stupid. Hamilton crossed that line today.

How wrong could you possibly be???.
Not your fault but here goes I am a Senna fan through and through ,which basicly means i love aggresive driving.I love Lewis's style on the whole, but today he went for moves and gaps that weren't there.Something Senna used to do I know but I'm not so blinkered these days
