I don't believe that the decision between Kimi and Massa was an insidious one.
He had a year on his contract, he didn't want to quit F1 as he did try and get a seat elsewhere afterwards. I think Alonso had a clause not to have Kimi after his time at McLaren with Lewis.
The common denominator: McLaren!!

The common denominator (who doesnt like a fast team mate) is Alonso 
Some people might agree; however, Alonso came to Ferrari to win a WDC with a team who
IS a team!
Even if we have a 1-2 philosophy, ultimately, the WCC is just as important! The only way to get both
titles is to have two strong drivers and even if publicly Alonso/Ferrari back Massa, it's frustrating not
having a second driver who scores points consistently, in order to do that!!
