SPEED Reports F1: Critics Question Integrity Of Possible Alonso Title
If Fernando Alonso wins the title by seven or fewer points, the position gained when Felipe Massa gave way in Germany will be the difference...

Nick Heidfeld on Thursday said it would be a shame if the team orders saga is seen to have influenced the outcome of the drivers' World Championship.

With two races to go, Ferrari's Fernando Alonso is 11 points ahead of Red Bull's Mark Webber in the points standings. Seven of those points were earned in Hockenheim, where Alonso's teammate Felipe Massa was controversially moved aside despite team orders being banned in F1. Ferrari was fined $100,000 for the move but Alonso kept his points.

"If Alonso wins the championship with a margin less than the seven points, it would devalue the championship - that's a personal view," said former FIA president Max Mosley.

Red Bull's team boss Christian Horner agrees, stating that seeing Alonso win because of the extra points would be "frustrating."

Sauber driver Heidfeld said in Brazil on Thursday: "From a team's perspective, it (team orders) is perhaps understandable.

"But it would be a shame if the championship is decided by the fact that Red Bull has followed the rules while others see it maybe differently.

"If that happens, I would really hope that Red Bull's behavior is seen in a positive way," the German is quoted by the news agency SID.

Earlier this week, McLaren team boss and FOTA chairman Martin Whitmarsh refused to say a title win for Alonso would reflect badly on the sport.

"I think we've had a very good championship and that's what we should think about, full stop," he said.

It's like getting fresh strawberries then someone adding ice-cream, then more fresh cream, then some cherries on top.....
It just keeps getting better and better :D

Reading all the whinging and carping stories from the Ferrari antagonists now is just so great..... I'm positively excited at the possibility of how good it will be if we can win another title, by 7 points or less will be the cherry on top.

If Alonso does win it by less than seven I think the forum will need locking down. I'd probably start the thread, just so it can be contained in there.

Of course Ferrari used team orders in Germany, and Massa's accepted that.

"I would do it again, I'm a professional driver," Massa said earlier this week.

Thats a very telling statement.

I have a friend who is a professional driver; he drives for FedEx ;):hehe:

Fedex drivers here don't drive where Fedex tells them. They 'claim' to visit and find no-one home (even though someone was in all the time) so they leave the package at the nearest Fedex depot, 20km away, and make us drive in to collect it. Sounds a bit like the definition of how team orders would work in Red Bull if Vettel was told to help Webber...
