At the moment I would agree but if he gave the team some proper dedication and some more titles over the next few years then my view point could change.

Why? He's only an employee. One who's held the team to ransom on several occasions at that. I think his pay cheque and few trophies he cajoled his way to are more than adequate. If you start giving one employee special status, you have to everybody it. If Hamilton wants bonuses, he should have joined the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Amen man.

can i ask why mr hamilton is so good for the sport? it seems that once hes not in the fastest car hes looking for a way out, hmmm not recall senna jumping ship when he was driving a bit of a dog then again he actually had experience of driving a poor car and making it look good, prost for that matter as well. Theres more than enough talent on the grid at the moment and not just people who have been given the best by mclaren, so as far as im concerned as soon as old lewis and is gooning father strop off the better.

Senna did want to jump ship when the car was rubbish, in 1993 he was racing on a race by race basis so that he could take up any other offers as soon as they came.

Well, there are also suggestions that was a ploy for sponsorship reasons etc., but point taken. There are several differences between Senna and Hamilton, the most obvious of which are that Senna was not proclaiming his undying love for McLaren and didn't get trained up by the team in his youth.

And Senna didn't have his extended family in full view at all times.

From F1 Live:

As feared by his McLaren Mercedes team, Lewis Hamilton's first appearance for the media in Shanghai only sparked new controversy.

Observers of the press huddle in China said the reigning world champion seemed guarded and uncomfortable, and at least two newspapers described his answer about his future at McLaren as 'coy'.

The Times said Hamilton's less than four-minute press meeting showed his 'hostile' side.

Twice asked to confirm that he will commit fully to his long-term contract, the Briton said only that he is "happy where I am."

"A simple 'yes' would have taken the heat off him," former McLaren driver David Coulthard told the BBC.

The Daily Telegraph said Hamilton had given a 'lukewarm response'.

"He was clearly still disenchanted with life in Formula One," the Daily Mail stated.

The newspaper said Hamilton's answer about his future was "conspicuously non-committal and terse from a driver who has traditionally claimed that he wished to remain with the team for life."

Hamilton also said he was 'surprised' but 'not disappointed' about Ron Dennis' decision to step down completely.

"I was surprised as I hadn't heard about it. But I am not going to fight it," The Sun quotes him as saying.

Yeah Anthony Hamilton has always annoyed me I think Lewis needs a new manager or mentor who will give him a reality check!

Extended family? just family I think.
No Senna probably didnt have his father there. Things were different then. He certainly had the comfot zone of his fathers great wealth to fall back on. Racing was less big business then, less in the eye of the media.. Most drivers may not have their fathers there then but they did have their wives and girlfriends doing the timing and such like. As I said, it was different.
Lots of drivers do have their family's support now. Massa, Jenson to name but two. Why does it always have to turn into 'have a go at Lewis'?
#109179
Well for one Senna's Girlfriends by then didn't do timing by then, and well media coverage was still very critical.

And this is a Hamilton thread. I'm keeping it to Hamilton threads lol
