What did everyone think of the new-style podium ceremony, with all the extra music? Good, bad or completely over-the-top?

It was a bit different, It felt like a Medal presentation at the Olympics games with the music going when the drivers were given their trophies

Has there been ANY word from mclaren or lewis about why he only did 8 laps on the supersofts? just seemed to undo his advantage of stopping later than everyone else on the first stint

Whitmarsh has admitted it was a mistake

But these things happen and they have learnt from it and will do better next time

I think what McLaren is doing wrong is learning everything in races...while everyone else learns what they need to learn on Fridays and applies them on Raceday.

I think they learn everything in the Simulator, then promise us a 1/10th upgrade which turns out to be -1/10th on race day.

Good job those test drivers did at Mugello, its obviously allowed the team to get the best out the sim

It rained on Friday this time, possibly effecting their upgrades as they didn't have on track time to get to grips with them.

Anyway, something I've observed from watching Alonso earlier in the season, that if there's a lack of pace in the car, there's not that much you can do with the strategy, as this season with restrictions on the diffuser and exhaust gases, DRS and degrading tyres the driver behind can usually get in front on track anyway (Monaco clearly an exception).

We did try to point this out at the time..but no, not taking the race drivers was apparently a GREAT idea!! Even when one expressed keen interest to go!
