I don't see MW in a love fest with JB but even if he was what's that got to do with Lewis and his performances? Ultimately nothing.

The moment Lewis has a bad season saying the only reason for this is to do with the team principle is a cop out if you ask me. Lewis has held his destiny in his own hands, that's also called the steering wheel...

I prefer Lewis over Jenson ,purely on driving style,I like the "he who dares" attitude. But I have to 100% agree with this. It's not down to MW that Lewis has hit Massa FIVE times, let alone all the other little knocks.
It's just a bad season for him,I'm sure after the winter break he will come back refreshed in the fastest car (there is a chance) and woop everyone :hehe:

Im not saying the MW lovefest with Jens is the reason Lewis has had such a problomatic year. But in the wake of this bad year he hasnt had the support he might have done from Whitmarsh cos Whitmarsh's eyes are always elsewhere. This serves to isolate Lewis and I think his confidence in his supreme ability is going. That was his strength.
MW "Jenson Button's drives this year have been some of the most spectacular in F1 history" :vomit: No they havent. They've been very good. theyve shown a driver at the top of his game exploiting his particular skill set and the conditions on track. Most spectacular in F1 history they are not.

With respect, this statement:

Im not saying the MW lovefest with Jens is the reason Lewis has had such a problomatic year.

seems contradictory to the following statements:

But in the wake of this bad year he hasnt had the support he might have done from Whitmarsh cos Whitmarsh's eyes are always elsewhere. This serves to isolate Lewis and I think his confidence in his supreme ability is going. That was his strength.

At least the way I read it, it does. It's not Witmarsh's fault; he just took away Lewis' strength?

Ok. let me try to clarify it. When Jenson joined Mclaern he was given a lot of reassurance. He was talked up and supported by Whitmarsh when he failed to match hamilton. And rightly so. He was concerned hamilton was established and wanted to be sure he got a fair crack of the whip. All fine. Now a year on and we see lewis having a hard time and Jenson, firmly established in the team and on top of his game. Time to give a bit of that reassurance and talking up to lewis now; but no not a bit of it. Whitmarsh continues to wax lyrical about jensons excellent drives and defend his poor qualifying. Lewis left to fend for himself while all the world have a go at him.
So no Whitmarsh isnt the reson Lewis is having a bad year, he's the reason why its become an atrocious year from which he may not get back to his superb best.

Whitmarsh is constantly defending Hamilton in interviews but he rightly singing the praises of Button doing a great job this year. He's giving both drivers support but different kinds of support. One driver is under fire, the other is on the crest of the wave.

Sorry but that is rubbish.Theres no way a driver should ,and even would need to be told hes the best there ever was just to produce in a racing car. It's in their blood.
Are we now seeing a major flaw in Lewis's driving ?.Let's not forget Lewis is the main reason that Ron Dennis isn't on the seen as much anymore.Do we have to change team princible everytime Lewis doesn't think hes getting number one treatment?.
Sorry racechick but this is down to Lewis and Lewis alone. He can hire someone himself to keep giving him confidence or to kiss his butt. :)
Don't get me wrong I feel he will come through this for sure ,but he will probably need the winter break to do it.

Read what I said again. You've missed the whole point.

I did read what you say and I stand by my comment. Whitmarsh is supporting both drivers but in different ways.

You've not read what I said either :banghead::banghead:
Ron Dennis left because of Spygate and Mosely, not Lewis.
Lewis doesnt want number one treatment. Where did you dream that one up from?
Lewis doesnt want butt kissing. Whilest jenson is in danger of getting his bum more than kissed by Whitmarsh. Keep your back to the wall jens!

Butts and bums - I like the way you're thinking rc
What do you mean by 'more than kissed by Whitmarsh'? :yikes: Are we allowed to join in? :whip:

What's up with you trying to turn this discussion into something sexual? I see an interesting discussion going on here with you trying to turn it in into something else though I dont know what.

Anyway, I think Whitmarsh knows his favourite. And I also agree with McLaren (the forumer, not team) that Lewis needs to get out of this himself. If he needs Whitmarsh to give him the same moral support as he does for Button, he's never going to get it.
#279594
You're right Hammer. Lewis has to do it himself. Whitmarsh wont give the support. Thats why I think he has some serious thinking to do over the winter which may result in him going elsewhere.

DD since you prefer the graphic descriptions. Whitmarsh has moved well beyond the kissing stage. He's so far up Jenson's arse he cant see what he's doing.

Has anyone ever though that maybe lewis is just in the wrong sport now? The sport punishes severely any sort of aggressive driving now.
If he wanted, could he go back to GP2? I'd rather watch him destroy gp2 and be appreciated than be ridiculed in f1.

I still watch that 2006 race in turkey, where he just destroyed everyone after losing so many places. That was some good racing.
