The truck in that snap is a Dodge, not a Ford.

Yes, it is. And Ferrari is owned by FIAT and Dodge is part of the Chrysler Group and the Chrysler Group is being run by FIAT - get it? Get it?

FIAT is a minority shareholder.

Yes, it is with 25%, but it's running the show by presidential decree so to speak.

It was stupid of Ferrari to believe they could use F150 as a name without some sort of fallout. Many racers use F-150s to tow trailers filled with racing goodies to the track. The first time I read the name I knew there was going to be a problem. It was stupid.

Ferrari should be smarter than this. How many years in a row are we going to watch them step on their junk one way or another..... They need to pull a McLaren and fire some management.

Ferrari has an ego.

I'm sure someone brought it up during a meeting and was greeted by 20 "are you insane" looks, followed by "we are ferrari, there wont be a problem, ford will change the name of it's truck" (the word 'truck' being said in particular distaste)

in Italy? You forget (like most Americans) that the world is larger than that of the USA border.

Why respond billy's comment, and then why respond with a derogatory comment back about American? it's not worth it.

Most (insert nationality here) are not the sharpest knives in the drawer. A huge portion of the world's population is illiterate or under educated. That's just the way of the world, so to single out Americans as a response to another typical billy post is pointless. The fact that the country was big enough and populated enough to support an semi-isolated way of developing for most of it's history has a lot to do with the perception that we don't know or don't care about the rest of the world.

Obviously, most Americans on this forum don't fit your perception of most Americans, so why bother with the response to billy?

I haven't forgotten.

If Ford named one of their cars the Ford 458....I'm sure an equal suit would be filed. And that is regardless of the fact that the USA is the largest market for pretty much any and all manufacturers of anything whatsoever. We are the reason you speak english. I know that just pisses you off....but there it is. How about instead of bitching and whining about us all the time because of your little brother syndrome, you just say thank you and move on. The population of your entire island (22M) is dwarfed by the population of California (38M) .. and we have 49 other states. Market share matters.

Why respond billy's comment, and then why respond with a derogatory comment back about American? it's not worth it.

What's Burning....is this your idea of Moderation? Condescending much? Even with a mod tag, you're still a wanna be. How was what I said wrong? I said many racers use F-150s to tow to the track...and it's true. I didn't attack anyone..he did. And you come out with your why respond to billy nonsense? Pathetic. You wonder why there are so many knock down fights in here, it's because the moderators set the tone. YOU post things like this and then wonder why others do the same.

No more stupid arguments please...

Reopened the old thread and merged for this (so people actually know what the thread is about). Some of those quotes are brilliant! :hehe:

I think it was stupid for ferrari for not checking, you know with the cash they got they have a legal team the size of alaska, but at the same time it is incredibly shallow of ford to take a jab at ferrari. :bs:

Brings the question, how are f1 cars typically transported? Plane?

Ford have finally given up and withdrawn their summons on Ferrari.

I love this quote from the horse whisperer - "the Ferrari 150° Italia, which should make it clear even to the thickest of people that the name of the car is a tribute to the anniversary of the unification of our country"

But I don't think it was a sudden epiphany that prompted the Einsteins at Ford to give up. It was probably the fact that their "legendary" F truck sales after the major slump has not really burbled back to any form of life, managing only 14% increase on last years miserable figures, whereas the Chevvy is up 60%.

What a bunch of morons......

That's only because Chevy sold nothing the previous year, and Toyota was suffering from their brake fiasco, so they gained more % from the previous year's sales. Ford actually was the only American company that stayed financially stable. Maybe in part to their strong F-150 sales. :hehe:

I'm glad the lawyers figured it all out and gave us a lowest common denominator result. Lawyers are also the reason why there's a warning label on my hair dryer reminding me NOT to use it while I'm in the shower. :D
