I remember being in Kuwait and finding it strange that you could walk around with a bar of gold bullion and no one cared, but the water tankers where escorted by armed guards.

That's hilarious! ...and if we lived on Mars, there would also be armed guards escorting the trucks filled with oxygen. Although I've eaten gold... it's not very tasty so in the end the value of things depend on the situation. My kingdom for a horse!

Which in order to not get too off topic, brings us back to F1, the reason why it costs 500 dollars to go see a race, I wonder how much a grand stand seat in Turkey is sold for. I'll check.

The tests on the wet and intermediate tires seemed to have gone well. :D

EDIT: well what do you know! GP of Turkey tickets are cheaper! Good ol' supply and demand.

The water was probably taken from the sea or another source which was undrinkable. The arabs are rich, but i doubt they would fuss over whether it was Evian being poured over their track.

My business deals with the Middle East market. Interesting fact is that petrol is cheaper than water. Lakes, rivers, seas are a rarity in those lands.

Makes you sad when you think of whole populations in some areas of the world praying for a liter of water to drink everyday.

Nope not at all. It's their water and they can do what they want with it. The are much worse examples of wasting resources.
