[NASCAR] put on a better show

Yeah no...No they don't. What they put on is a very different kind of show. NASCAR is the WWE to F1's Boxing.

interesting analogy but... have you seen the state of professional boxing over the last decade?

I have, yes. And?

It would not be int he best interest of F1 to use boxing as it's "business" role model!

But boxing is hugely successful and makes tons of money for all involved. But that's besides the point - I liked Stealthgate's comparison between Nastycar and WWE (all showy) as opposed to F1 and boxing (tough fights).

I like FM's bum :cloud9:

Oh wait, I've publicly stated this before... :P

Greatest drivers ever: MS>AP>AS

I feel sometimes this Forum is like a kindergarten :irked::banghead::thumbdown:

Hm, what's the point of this thread?

Well, you have to understand that you can always say what you want because you’re the boss. The rest of us, simple mortals, have to take a little time before saying anything in order to avoid problems with the mods. Even when we have been insulted or attacked, we have to choose the words to reply for trying to avoid a warning or a ban.

:clap::yes:

Baloney! I seriously doubt, no I KNOW that you wouldn't get into ANY trouble with ANY mod for posting something like the above. As the French say: C'est le ton qui fait la musique.

My French is a little rusty... are you saying extremely fat people shouldn't dance to music?!?!

Ok, let's see whether we can help this old rust bucket: It's the tone that makes the music meaning it's HOW you say it makes the difference.

Well pardon moi mon ami, but my interpretation had more bounce.

Fair point...I should have said Golden Age Boxing  .

You need to check your sources DD :whip:

Let me clear one thing,... There is no way that I prefer Nascar to F1 in pure race format. What I was refering to WAS the show. Maybe because SPEED TV has about 10hrs if not more, out of 24hrs, dedicated to NASCAR and you cant get away from it. It has indepth stories about the drivers (and they have a million of them) where they follow them on a given week.. Its gets you inside the life.

F1, when in season, gets about two hours a week outside of the race. "F1 Debreif" and "the Grid" on speed.

If F1 had something more in-tune with the fans, it would be awesome. F1 is like "Oh no, you can't talk to Fernando right now, he's too busy".. Or "Excuse me this is Lewis's private party with Ditty, you can't come in"

Maybe that is the allure. Its so exclusive and we all want in so bad that we keep duckling it up..

s-u-c-k-i-n-g it up...

Oh hell no!!! F1 wants too occasionally mention their 'concern' about the fans but they do nothing about it, rather pathetic isn't it?

But its easy to slide from that into populism, and that'll just turn f1 into what top tier football is in the UK, where its the "human interest" that really pulls in the headlines, the drivers private life can stay private, its not why I watch f1.

We want more action on track, and back in the teams's factories, not "soft stories".

F1's got some fantastic glamour and showmenship, that isn't whats lacking.

Everybody should be expected to have some amount of Privacy. I may have overstated my position. Vaptin, you were closer to what I meant.

Back at the factory, in the Paddock, on the track at testing. Can we see more of that, without the teams feeling like they are giving away trade secrets?

Interactions between driver and engineers to see how they go about a test program?

I could care less about Sutil going to the coffee shop.. Or Kobyashi flippin burgers..

I must disagree. Why is NASCAR, Top Fuel and other sports so popular? Simply because they cater more too the fans who help pay their expenses. F1 in that sense only belittles themself especially when they mention wanting to appease the fans, they never ask the fans what they want do they? I know a few people who have been attending F1 races since the late '50's and early '60's and that is one of their main concerns with F1 aswell since they needed no $1K pass into the pits or garages  .

Soft stories?"

Never said it was but in all reality F1 is lacking in fan interaction which is one of the reasons some other series are not so disappointed. Driver/fan/team interaction is something that has been missing for years without an rediculously expensive pit lane pass or knowing someone within the team. Man I have been following motorsports for way too long not too realize the flaws within a certain series that I follow religiously.

As usual, I agree with you Vaptin. There are many things to be fixed in F1 before being concerned about private life of drivers or so. Anyway, coming back to free testing could bring F1 closer to the fans, in some circuits and towns, at the same time that it would help to the development of the cars and could become a source of interesting activity and attractive information for everybody following F1.
That also would bring more work and money into the circuits and more continuous Media activity, related with cars, drivers, engineers …….
The problem is that F1 owners are only concerned about Fees, TV Rights and Sponsors, their three main income’s sources...and off course, costs cutting.

Does this thread mean that all other threads are full of lies?? :yikes: I thought we always put honest thoughts everywhere!

Honestly, being honest:

I honestly think Lewis is the best driver on the grid today

I honestly think Alonso is a prat, though a very respectable driver indeed.

More to come.
