I have absolutley no idea where people on this forum get their "expert' opinions from. It's OK to show support for your favourite team or driver, but seriously, unless you are an inner sanctum employee of a top F1 team.....you have no idea what is really going on.....it's just purely speculative fun on this forum.

When it comes to Hamilton my personal opinion is that a driver with so little experience in Formula 1 (this is only his 3rd season) shows very little regard for the sport by making stupid inflamitory statements....and to be frank.....he's done it from day one and that's why so many are polarized by him as a person.

Respect is respect....some learn the hard way.....I suspect Lewis may soon begin to understand the concept. (and that's just my opinion)

This is his 4th season and he's only had 4 race starts in that time where he's not been in the championship running, not bad but could do better.

It's a good record, but your intelligent enough to know its not particularly comparable as Lewis has generally always been given a competitive car. And I guess you mean mathematically not in the championship running, I'm sure last year Lewis knew he wasn't competing for the championship before the 4th to last race. . .

I know, and he wasn't competing for the championship last year. ..

It's like saying Bruno Senna had x number of race starts this year when he was still in the championship running (mathematically yes), but everyone knew he wasn't actually competing in this years championships. An extrapolation there, but same concept.

I realise that but there's also a bit of being thrown in at the deep end. As for the end of last year, why do you think Hamilton crashed out of Monza pushing so hard to pressure Button instead of settling for 3rd, it was his only chance of starting the next race not out of the running for the first time in his F1 career.

I thought it was because he knew he wasn't in the championship, so was just picking up podiums without a view for the bigger picture - ie he could push as he didn't have a lot to lose. However his actions in Monza this year don't suggest that mentality (but I put that down to clouded judgement rather than inherent mentality).

Schumacher doesn't have a competitive car this year?

Indeed, and thats one of the reasons why there's not much value in beating him this season? Of course no value, and I think Lewis also might have implied he'll never be competitive again, is a bit strong, but maybe it just wasn't a good interview?

People will imply whatever they want to but what more is there to say about his opinion on Schumacher than what he said in the beginning of the season for prospect of being able to race against his idol?

This is 4 pages now worth of discussion of a thread that was intended as nothing but incendiary commentary by the poster.

Someone else mentioned that earlier about their favorite driver but I guess it's different when they are concerned  .

It's not just that though is it tex? Schumacher's also getting regularly clearly beaten by his team mate and is making some silly errors. I don't know if he'll improve next year, but there isn't much value in beating him nowdays is there?

I think Lewis is saying its no longer "a challenge or special", I don't think he meant Schumacher will never been competitive again, although I'm not a mind reader and I wasn't there.

What's different? The favourite driver you speak of didn't have a competitive car last year and wasn't up for the championship, Schmacher this year doesn't have a competitive car and isn't up for the championship. One question though is would Schumacher be up for it if he had a competitive car? But we won't know the answer to that this year at least.
