Sounds awesome, I hope it starts a fever in the US :D

There was never a loss of fever in the US the issue is between the track owners not willing too line Bernies pockets.

Bernies ego is atleast 95% of the problem. If CART/INDYCAR can run on our tracks why can't F1??? :wink:

hmm I'm disappointed at the lack of even considering artificial rain before dismissing it like that. Maybe being that I'm kinda new to F1 I'm missing some type of obvious point to be made here.

Sure it might look like an unorthodox idea at first, being that it ingests some type of forced entertainment value which sometimes we (americans) have been accused of. (making bigger spectacles of a situation and sensationalizing them) It's not like they are trying to mount machine guns on the cars :D , it's just rain.

When was the last time you peeps didn't enjoy a wet race? those tempt to be the most unpredictable and fun of them all. they could even implement some type of random system of wet/dry and even intensity, that way teams will have to build a strategy around when and if to pit for tire change etc. just like the real thing.

Well since you are new to F1 I'll be gentle :wink: . An induced criteria too a race is not racing as mother nature should be the deciding factor, if it rains or not. Aswell you should know that track temps change which is just as important ie tire wear/selection.

That being said the idea is a farce to true motor racing imo but then again I have only been following since the '70's so what do I know??

k i can understand that point, but i think changes like these have been taking place for a while now. Just look at an early 90s f1car's steering wheel compared to the new ones. from no buttons to having a full fledged airplane cockpit on there :rofl:
surely the sport would have been more pure with out all those adjustable options?
And just to play devil's advocate, if nature should be the decider of all, then why built racetracks specifically formulated for F1 racing? Honestly the more I think about it, the more I realize this entire sport is based on artificial entities.
I know it a farcry of an example compared to dumping artificial rain on the track,but where do you want to draw the line? at artificial rain? I think this is a hint of things to come.... Just look at' blernsball' :hehe:

I'm noy saying it won't happen and I will still watch I just don't care for the idea at this time but hey it could be very cool. :)

Yep, I'll definitely be there in 2012.

As for artificial rain: My biggest gripe is that it does away with the anticipation and strategy. If the system is completely random, teams will have no idea how long the rain will last, and if it would even be worth switching tires at all.

Whereas with real rain, they can track the storm system, and make judgement calls based on its size, motion, and probably a multitude of other meteorological factors I'm not aware of. By the nature of judgement calls with so many factors, different teams will make different decisions, and make a more interesting race.

Rain simply on a random on/off switch has only one factor to consider: is it on now? No? Ok, slicks. Yes? Change to wets, and hope it goes long enough to make the pit worth the time.

No gp here in 5 years, and when it has been here it's always been one track. This country has more than enough money to put every other country that supports f1 to shame, not only that there is plenty of real estate here for track to build and to use the tracks that are here. Maybe there are a lot of track owners who haven't lost interest but I challenge the statement that the united states has nearly as much robust fan base as the rest of the world.

And that's a shame because it could match it, easy.

Any new pics of the circuit?

Lots of new pics of the progress and you can follow it on Facebook, I get tired of downloading and posting them. There is a huge following here in the US 'killem2' so do not dispair that fact. The fact is that Bernie gets questioned here regarding his cost while other nations/countries either bow down or need the exposure, the US does not need it but are considered lame ducks which is ludicrous.

Well my wife has been pushing me to move south because she is tired of the weather in nebraska. She want nice steady weather. Austin might be in our future :) She asked what changed your mind, because I was against moving AT ALL, then I said, new GP track next year.

She :rolleyes::rolleyes:

And i :hehe::hehe:

And She finally :yes:

So we'll see what happens in the future :)
