Don't get too confident on McLaren, the gap was huge in Bahrain and if a miracle doesen't occur, we'll still be behind Ferrari and Red Bull unfortunantely

In my opinion the gap isn't that big McLaren went really wrong with the car setup Martin admitted that he expected the bumps in the new section to be grounded out on friday night and they weren't so the qualifying setup was very poor. The car had very good pace in race very close to the Red Bulls and Ferraris though I still think Ferrari and Red Bull have the advantage.

Personally I think you're all nuts liking the early races. I like to watch the practice sessions if I can and 0130/0530 on a Friday morning isn't very appealing.

ROOKIE :hehe: !!

There was nothing like getting up at say 3am, hungover bigtime, for the '80's Japanese GP, making some breakfast, rolling a phat one and pouring a strong drink in preparation for the 4am race. Passed out by 8am sleep till 1pm and then hit the bar for a CART race or possibly a GroupB rally event :D:cloud9: !!!

Good tune, but it wasn't what I was thinking about... sorry it was a random sketch from a Scottish sitcom...

:hehe:

I was thinking about that song too.

Seriously though, why do you all love an early morning race? Last time we had one I ended up slurring (or whatever the typing version is) my words in the chatroom*, sneaking around the house trying not to wake people up while hunting for coffee and desperately trying to keep awake. I think I'd much rather have a nice nights sleep and wake up at a reasonable hour. Thank God the early ones don't happen often.

*I'm pretty sure a few fellow chatters fell asleep mid race too:hehe:

See you aren't meant to watch the race drunk! That is probably your problem :P

Personally it doesn't feel quite the same watching the race later on when it's repeated - even if it's a crap-tacular bore-fest that wastes 2 hours which I can never get back.

Plus it's kind of become a habit for 13 years now. :P

I agree with that, early and live is better than late and repeated but I'd still infinitely prefer it live and at a reasonable hour. 7am is just fine anything before 4 is pushing it but I'll still end up watching.

And incur a double does of slurring?! I can't see that working for me

See we're being ignorant Europeans here. What about those in foreign markets who have to get up and watch Formula One at this time throughout the season?

If the Australian Gp is anything like Bahrain, you'll need a stiff drink to stay awake.

Or if you are a Tee-loser like me, then you will run on pure love

I found it hard staying awake through Bore-rain, and that started at 12pm... if Melbourne is just as bad or worse then an emergency dose of Red Bull might be called upon.

I made it through Bahrain with 1 hours sleep and a cracking hangover, it must be love of the sport.

I'm jealous of them. I usually have to miss qualifying for work :/

As for why I enjoy a race in the wee hours...It's got the feeling of an event. It's that special kind of excitement where it's pitch black outside, you're the only one conscious in the house, everything's peaceful...And you have the best sport in the world playing out live, right before your eyes. It's magical.

Get some f***ing fairy lights on the goal. Holding lighters up in the air... or am I the only one to have done that?
