we clearly thinking along the same lines... one wonders whether he would prefer jenson to (maybe) get a drive with mclaren and get the oppertunity to grab kimi later. my opinion he would have the best of both worlds....

its about money this time round. there tho angles to take i guess. he took less bucks in order for the team to survive. I do feel however Ross now has to level with the guy and give him what he's worth. he's a champion now. surely he deserves to get a higher retainer ??

I believe he's been offered more but is holding out for £8m. While I agree that he should get more than last year, he seems to be expecting more than his talent warrants, world champion or not.

I'm figuring brawn is waiting for some clarity on the virgin and merc issues. we now know that virgin wont be with them next year. the merc buyin issues also has no certainty to it as yet. maybe button then refuses to understand the situation that ross cant give a definate answer yet ?? could that be it then ??
For all we know brawn really cant afford to pay him that kind of money at the moment...

I agree. But in my mind Jenson owes Brawn a couple of years considering he saved his career. I don't think the drivers care about that, but that's just what I think.

ya.. well I hope the merc buyin happens cos it will really put brawn on a better level to challenge next season....

I agree. But in my mind Jenson owes Brawn a couple of years considering he saved his career. I don't think the drivers care about that, but that's just what I think.

Button has been loyal to them,the name of the team may of changed but he stuck with them through some tough times aswell.I say good luck to him.If he's anything like me it would be a dream job,who knows he may even of been a McLaren fan growing up.
It's tough to make a call from the outside but I know where I would want to go,only thing is money wouldn't be the reason for me.

I think the key to this deal being finalised wiill probably lie in the hands of Mercedes.

Button was being paid big $$$ for driving for Honda so it's less about loyalty than getting the best money he could at the time. It seems to me that he is chasing the money, not more race wins/titles as I think his best chance for more titles is to stay with Brawn as I doubt that he will get such a good chance at McLaren with LH on the team!

My take on this matter is that JB does deserve more money now that he is a WDC yet I hope he is willing to atleast negotiate an amicable compromise with BGP.
