Ongoing doubts about new USF1 venture
Ross Brawn has expressed surprise at the news that USF1, one of three start-up new teams for the 2010 season, has not yet commenced internal crash-testing of components.

The publications Blick and Auto Motor und Sport revealed the news this week, to which Brawn replied: "We have been crash testing for the new car for the past two months, to be ready for the official tests.

"A new team should be doing the same if it wants to be ready for the beginning of the season," the Briton added.

Auto Motor und Sport estimated the chance that the Charlotte-based team will be ready to race in 2010 at "zero".

It has been rumoured that one possible outcome for USF1 is the sale of its 2010 entry to another team.

The reports said that at a recent Formula One Teams’ Association meeting, all team bosses with the exception of USF1 sporting director Peter Windsor wanted to forbid teams from selling their official entries.

i love the way F1live reported USGPE's finishing of their HQ as;
'USGP claims to have completed HQ'
As if they might be making it up! shows how much faith people have in this project

I love how James Allen, (after quoting Windsor saying that not many Americans have a Superlicense) lists the available British drivers.
You'd think perhaps he could do a little digging and tell us which Americans have, or qualify for said license? But, no. He seems to be pushing the Brits to drive the USF1 car.

Well Brits are good at driving cars. Americans...Aren't. It's not their fault, their predecessors were just short-sighted (And uneducated) enough not to put any real corners on their roads, tracks, or bodies.

Shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line. I guess our civil enginees like to be practical every now and then. :D
Anyway, here's a couple links for anyone interested.

If the FIA said everything looked rosy at USF1 HQ... but now others are suggesting the team really is in trouble... does that mean the FIA sent Hans Blix to the USF1 HQ? :P

Something like that. Now that I think about it, I don't see how anyone could consider the FiA's decision on the matter relevant, since they have a vested interest in the USF1 venture's success (Or at least, the appearance of such).

Um...Eeek?

Nick Craw on SpeedTV show Wind Tunnel states USF1 paid their $440K entry fee ten days ago. Sounds like Ross is the official leaker at recent FOTA meeting.

Quite a discount to the $40m it used to be...

Brawn purchased Honda team for one dollar, how much was his entry fee.

Oh, forgot about that deep discount on entry fee.......................It was waived.

wasn't the 40 million a one time bond that was returned when all this started off. I think the 440k is just the teams entry for next year.

Yes, it was to ensure that teams had the required pocket change to participate in the circus that is F1

F1-live:
Peter Windsor has denied reports that USF1 will not be ready for next season, following claims that the team has yet to start crash testing and could be for sale.

"The report seemed to come out of Switzerland/Germany, the land of BMW Sauber," sporting director Windsor told GPWeek, referring to the fact that the Hinwil-based team has not yet been granted entry into next year's championship.

Windsor said "several" components for the 2010 car have been "successfully" crash-tested, and that more tests will take place this and next month.

He denied he recently voted in favour of having the ability to sell USF1's entry, and also shed doubt on the context of quotes attributed to Ross Brawn, where the Brackley-based team's boss seemed to question whether USF1 will be ready to debut next March.

"Back in the real world, we're re-furbishing some trucks we've just bought from Brawn," said Windsor. "As for USF1 Team, I can only repeat what Ken (Anderson) and I have been saying ever since we signed the Concorde Agreement: our slot is not for sale under any circumstances and we will be racing, and giving it 100%, from Bahrain onwards."
