right!

well my dad knows people at Aston and Prodrive as he works at Jaguar and he said that people were telling him it was getting pretty ugly at Aston. It's always been ugly at Prodrive for a ages, you'll never see a bunch of engineers so unsure about their job security. Aston were pretty close to the brink at one point but i haven't spoken to him about it in a while so they might have recovered. That new million pound supercar was just basically desperation, they faced going under unless they did something like that.

Ah right that isn't good news at all. The car industry is ruined. I mean Vauxhall could go under (I realise they aren't exactly British now) but either way, thousands of jobs will go.

Unlike in France where Peugoet/Citroen and Renault prod the government. ;)

yup it's pretty crazy, just before christmas, Jaguar were giving millions of pounds worth of loans to suppliers all over Europe just to prevent them from closing down. Half of them weren't even supplying Jaguar at the time, they just knew they would need them at some point and the banks weren't lending them the usual capital they needed to meet existing orders and contracts. The loan Jaguar asked for off the British government was basically to cover off the money they had spent saving these other companies when the relevant governments had failed to do so themselves.
TBH, with the American companies, the way they've behaved over the last 10 years in terms of completely ignoring the changing global market, they frankly deserve to go under. it's just a shame about the job losses, they have to stay afloat really otherwise unemployment would be epic

how can Prodrive have a link with McLaren Mercedes when they already supply two teams which is the limit? I cant see Force India deal being broken and i dont see Brawn wanting to go with another engine make after the success they are having this year either!

The limit can be upped by the FIA.

Lola's Entered
Lola confirms 2010 F1 entry

Lola has confirmed it has submitted its entry to the FIA for next year's Formula 1 world championship.

The Huntingdon-based company had already expressed its interest in returning to grand prix racing last month, after the FIA announced plans to introduce a budget cap system in F1.

On Friday, the last day to lodge entries for 2010, Lola confirmed it had submitted its entry.

The company said it would not many any further comments until the results of the entry submissions are made public on 12th June.

wonder what the final regs will be, just no refuelling or will everyone have additional movable aero

I believe the deal was that the refuelling ban would stay but all over regulations are staying the same as 2009 and all teams competing under a €100m cap.

Hold on, 14 teams have actually entered... sorry if this has been posted but it's news to me!!

Campos Racing first to lodge entry for 2010 Formula One world championship

Campos Racing, the Spanish formula three outfit, have become the first team to officially lodge their entry to compete in next year's Formula One world championship.

The official week-long entry period began at midnight last night, with Campos confirming their entry five minutes later. Although FIA president Max Mosley's plans to introduce a budget cap have angered a number of the sport's established teams, it has sparked interest with a number of relatively-unknown marques.

The Formula One Teams' Association (Fota) were due to meet with Mosley in Monaco today as they again seek to find a resolution to the current impasse. The latest round of negotiations is likely to determine whether Ferrari decide to pursue their 'right of veto' case with the FIA in the civil courts.

If no resolution is found today, it is almost certain around seven of the ten F1 teams will fail to lodge their entry by next Friday's deadline.

With the FIA determined to attract three new teams onto the grid from next year courtesy of the £40million cap, Campos Racing - to be known as Campos Meta 1 - are the first to throw their hat into the ring. Eight others are known to be interested, including the Aston Martin/Prodrive organisation, spearheaded by former BAR boss David Richards, along with Wirth Research, Lola, USF1, Epsilon Euskadi, RML, Formtech and iSport.

Think that we could actualy see 14 teams on the grid don't see why it wouldn't work.

Not enough pits. Only way would be a pre-Q, but that would be hard on the few teams who get sent home every other race because they didn't make it into Q1.
