F1 is something I can gladly live without as long as there is another series containing the likes of Ferrari, McLaren, BMW and the top drivers currently associated with these teams. If there is a split and that split series has Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Toyota, whiel F1 is left with Force India, a shadow of what was once Williams, Brawn and some randoms, no one is going to be watching F1. The breakaway will be the stronger series and so people will just watch that.

What are Mosley and Ecclestone, the big bullies, going to do? It's all very well picking on the likes of McLaren in the school yard when they're on their own, but now McLaren's classmates have decided to make friends with them and gang up on the bullies.

It's always about Woking with you. This has nothing to do with Ron Dennis and Max Mosley's petty squabble.

And, once again:

McLaren have not said they will leave.

Source?

Belive me mate if Ferrari go Mclaren will follow the reason being is they are the 2nd most popular team in F1 so they will follow Ferrari for good compition which brings good sponsorship.

FOTA should stick together on this and follow Ferrari.

The problem is to have a capped F1 you have to either one of two things
A. Two Tier system (Because of Ferrari's contract with the FIA)
B. Persuade Ferrari to agree on some sort of budget cap (this would be hard)
The issue is at least 4 Teams would pull out if a two tier system is in place because those teams don't want to compete in a two tier F1, full stop with loss of those teams I'm sure more of the manufactures would leave. I think Ferrari and Red Bull have made this very serious threat not because they want to leave F1 but because they want a strong negotiating position with the FIA (You change the rules or we destroy F1).

McLaren are involved in the sense that they've been the main team pushing for extra revenue for the teams and threatening a breakaway series for years. The reason it couldn't go ahead was because Ferrari were paid off by Ecclestone, amongst other favours from the powers that be. With McLaren's allies, such as Williams, keeping their heads down, not wanting to get burned, the FIA and Ecclestone were able to give McLaren a hard time. Now Ferrari are onside with the teams, who are now willing to stick their head above the parapet. The FIA and Ecclestone's divide and conquer tactics will no longer work. Unless they want mass insurrection, they'll have to agree terms with FOTA.

Williams are staying in F1. The world championship leaders are staying. McLaren have no reason to go. This has nothing to do with the immature battle between Ron and Max. Get over it.

No i wan't to see the source where Mclaren have said they will sign.

because thats what your saying.

Mclaren have said they do not want a two tier F1

This is what its all about also Williams have said they do not want it.

Realisticly you might get Brawn GP and Force India.

Williams Possibly.

Seams to me that you want this to happen because your team wants it.

But its stupid you can't have a two tier system.

100% correct they only have to do it once then they things will come FOTAs way alot easiler.

Williams aren't really a headline team anymore. In Britain, they still have a lot of fans but worldwide, no one really cares about a middle grid team like that. Brawn also don't have the fanbase as they are so new. Plus I doubt if they will be at the front of a non-capped series next year, as long as the big boys are still around. Williams and Brawn aren't gonna be much of a draw one their own

I didn't say it had anything to do with Dennis and Mosley per se. That you're think that's what I was suggesting says more about you than me. The fact is the teams were limited in what they could do because Ferrari were loyal to Mosley and Ecclestone. Now that Ferrari have changed sides, the FIA and FOM's stranglehold on Formula One is over.

Let's address these in order:

I did not say they said they would sign, I said they had not stated an intent to leave.

Williams are opposed to Two-Tier, but Frank says he will sign.

See above.

Seems to me that you guys only want an F1 breakaway because of the historical feud between your team and the FiA. See, I cna do that too. Pots and Kettles.

I am opposed to two-tier F1. I am equally opposed to a breakaway.

We are basically seeing the bluff making and calling of each faction in progress now. Either Ferrari and co. will cave and accept the new rules or the powers that be will cave and raise the budget cap and such. I am so immensely cynical about this breakaway nonsense, cause if things were as bad for the teams as is claimed then they'd have broken away already, they're not stupid. Aditionally, the notion that this phantom 'breakaway series' is some incredible holy grail is so, so bizarre - a series run by the teams will be run in a way geared primarily towards the benefit of the teams themselves... not the series itself. Good if you are a team racing there, but not automatically good for us, the fans.

On the bright side, if Ferrari did go then it could be off prototype racing... that would be good. :)

No i want a break away because Bernie rips off the teams, and the FIA wants its way or the high way and a two teir system which will not work.

I agree with your sentiment Re: Max and Bernie. But a breakaway is not a good solution. I'm never going to agree with you on that.

Well your team isn't getting money it deserves because of Bernie.

The rules are a mess with this two teir F1.

They arn't listening to FOTA and trying very hard to pull it apart so apart from THREATS like this what other soloution is there?
