Does this mean Hamilton's gonna be on a racetrack made of eggs and he's not allowed to break any of em?

Still, fair enough. Can we get on with the racing now?

suspended until they start winning then they can use it against them.......what a joke they gave out the punishment after the race.......hope LH and HK have a great race in barcelona

Yes, it will be used against them, if they break the same part of the ISC again. It's a totally fair punishment - BAR Honda got an actual ban for lying to stewards, not just a suspended one.

I imagine a large part of not giving Mclaren an immediate 2 race ban is their large Fan base, Their large sponsors, and Monaco.

It's sickening to see the FIA favour the top teams like this isn't it...

JOKE!

The case with BAR Honda was more than lying though, the stupid thing about this affair is that Mclaren hadn't actually done anything wrong (except for being overly cautious so as not to risk picking up any penalty while waiting on clarification on the situation from CW) until they went into the stewards meeting.

I should be pleased that Mclaren havent beeen punished harshly, after 2007 there was every chance they would be.Now we can look forward to good racing. Can lewis still challenge in an underperforming car? Will the Ferrari's get their act together? Will Brawn still domoinate? Can Webber get on terms with Vettel? Why are the BMW's so bad? How much advantage is KERS? This is what I want to be thinking about and aftyer todays ruling it should be ok......But it leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. This is not how things should be decided. If you lie , you get a punishment for that not a punishment that suits the FIA's itinery. The punishemnet should be standard for every transgressor and not open to FIA corruption. To say words to the effect of ' now that Ron has gone we like the new culture at McLaren so we'll let you off' is bullpoo, he's been gone a week? they have no idea what the 'culture' is! Disliking a team principal is not grounds for administering an unprecedentedly ridiculous fine, neither should the departure of team principals you dislike be grounds for making decisions on punishments.
Im glad McLaren didnt get any further 'punishments' but I dont like the reasons why, and I still think its unfinished business.

Maybe, Maybe, Maybe, Maybe, Maybe, Not alot it seems.

Well using your logic, surely Mclaren should have suffered a harsher fate, like say Honda in 2004? Im not saying I'd want that, but you know. The FIA's ruling today was fair. Mclaren admitted they lied and they have publically shown that changes have been made. The FIA couldn't exactly give them a harsh punishment after that.

That wasnt really the point. It may have been a fair ruling but the reasons they gave that ruling were flawed.

Which means that the ruling in essence is unfair to other teams. I didn't want McLaren to be banned from racing but surely a fine of some sort would have swept this matter under the carpet and we could move on. But I get the feeling that the threat of suspension is still left hanging over the team meaning that the whole thing is not really settled.

But I guess that is the FIA for you

The FIA are pants!!

McLaren supporters  they'll never be pleased

j/k

Seriously though, if McLaren were absent at the Monaco GP can you imagine the uproar. People would be complaining left right and centre. The FIA in my opinion saw this. But I think the fact that McLaren have been very honest and open in the last few weeks made quite a bit of a difference.

This McLaren supporter will be pleased when things are decided fairly. So you think its ok to make a decison based on whether people will complain about monaco? I thought this was about what happened at australia.

I don't think the FIA really planned to do anything against McLaren in light of recent developments at the team. McLaren did wrong, nobody's denying that, but the FIA saw the situation as a chance to oust Dennis once and for all. With him now gone, their work was pretty much done. The FIA couldn't, though, dismiss the case against McLaren completely. It would look absolutely stupid, hence the suspended sentence.
