I first started watching F1 in the mid 90s, and was watching it fairly regularly by 2000. My parents followed it, though not with any particular vigour, but I first got into it through them - as I was a kid though, I was mostly amused by the Champagne spraying. Once I started following it properly as a sport (Around 1998), I was a casual Schumi and Ferrari fan. I stayed that way until about 2002, which is when I seriously got into F1 - and when I started to seriously like Jenson.

I'll be honest, I have no idea how that got started. I think I liked the way his name sounded. Anyway, I followed Jenson and really liked him, so it stayed that way. I still followed Ferrari (Increasingly passively) until the end of 2007 (At which point I was satisfied by Kimi getting a WDC for them), as BAR (Then Honda) began to tug away at my heart because they had Jens and Honda - a carmake I really like.

Brawn coming to Honda (And Wurz too) was something I was really hoping for, so now it's Brawn GP, I really love the team, even taking Jenson out of the equation.I also like Renault, Fernando and Robert Kubica.

Welcome to the forum mate. My first introduction to Formula One came with my Playstation 1 game. There was a team called Tyrell, in which Takuma Sato was. I liked that team. I also liked the Jordan team, where Barichello was on the game. I had that game in 2005. (We were a bit outdated. )

I turned on the TV for the 2005, and 2006 Monaco Grands Prix. And even watched a Turkish and Italian one from memory. But all I remember is Mark Webber came second in one of them. I also watched soccer on TV for the first time around this. It was Manchester United v. Benfica to give you an idea.

Then I thought I'd follow the 2007 season. But I didn't know who to follow. Before the Melbourne Grand Prix they spoke about this driver on debut called Lewis Hamilton. So I thought I'd go for him. I lost interest after this race and only watched it again for Monaco GP of 2007.

Then last season I actually managed to watch every European race, and the Canadian one too. I followed Lewis Hamilton for this. But I noticed Sebastian Vettel for the first time in the Monaco race of 2008 when he came from something riduclous to finish 4th. I wondered if they miscounted a lap! So, while I still followed Hamilton, I always needed to know Vettel's position and Mark Webber. (purely 'cos he's an Aussie.)

And then Vettel won Monza! I was really happy. And he moved to Red Bull with my third favourite driver, Mark Webber. But, after Monza, Vettel is my favourite driver. I didn't like Coulthard. But now Red Bull have got a team full of my favourite drivers (who I both liked before they joined Red Bull) I also liked Red Bull 'cos of their name. So now the stars are telling me that I obviously support Red Bull:

An average car, so I root for the underdog. An Aussie driver, and the youngest driver ever to win a race. Sounds perfect.

And by the way, I'm still waiting for Sato to come back to Formula One. I will sooo support his team, even if it is Ferrari (highly improbable, to the extent of impossible.) But while Vettel and Webber are at Red Bull nothing will change my support for that team.

Thanks to everyone for the Welcome! The three drives that I've really been impressed with watching so far and they seem like are all "nice" guys and very good drivers are Jenson Button, Nico Rosberg, and Jarno Trulli. I am impressed how Brawn was able to take this Honda team over and do what that have done...shows me that they are a first rate operation. I am also very impressed with the Toyota teams as well I also like that these teams made adjustments to the rule changes and didn't get caught with there "pants" down

Rubens Barrichello also seems like a good guy and very good driver as does Trulli, wow didn't realize he was a great Karting champ!

The amount of technical and historical knowledge people have here is awesome......I also consider myself to be a novice.....
There's a lot that can be learnt about this sport here......

I agree....learn something new every time I visit, that's part of the fun right?
