It would really take an overwhelming effort now for Ferrari or McLaren to make gains. So really, I doubt that they will. Look at 2005, Ferrari didn't exactly come back and start winning races. And whats more is that this year there's less money flowing for teams to use to spend their way out of trouble.

My bet is fully on Brawn to take the title and Button clearly is leading the way for them. The only teams I see threatning them are Toyota and Red Bull. Simply because Toyota are the closest to Brawn at the moment and Red Bull clearly have masses of potenial. If Red Bull manage to get that new diffuser they'll be a serious threat. Especially in the hands of Vettel and Webber.

i wouldnt really compare how the 2005 season played out for Ferrari to this one as that was down to the Bridgestone tyres not being able to match the Michelins not Ferrari's technical capabilities. I think if they were on the Michelins they would have been winning races.
I would compare this year to the last major reg change which was 1998. that year McLaren on Bridgestones were lapping the field in the first round yet Ferrari clawed their way back on GoodYears and made 98 a title fight!

as for RedBull slapping on a double deck diffuser its apparently not that easy for them. One of the main reasons they are so active in the protests is because they have a unique pull rod rear suspension setup and to remake a new diffuser would mean having to make a new rear suspenion setup. so they have more to lose than the rest.

lewis Hamilton and MM will make the greatest comeback in F1 history once they get their aero-diffuser package worked out. Hamilton will be on pole sometime between China and Spain, but he must have top 3 to 5 finishes over the next 2 races. A lot of racing is just luck and the Brawn boys need some bad luck if Hamilton is gonna catch up to them.

You, sir, are a poor sport.

The FIA and the other non diffuser teams should have listened to Ross Brawn when he raised the issue a while back, they didn't, so we have another blinkin' mess going on. My thoughts are that the Paris hearing will declare them legal, and then its catch-up for the others. To now declare them illegal would be farcical. Are they going to strip BGP of the driver and contructors points?, if that was the case, the sport will just become a complete farce.

Yes it does but it does not mean one should be unsportsman like about it right? I'm not defending Massa either only saying that comment could have been leftout of your reply.

Who wins what in F1 2009? Ok I'm not even going to guess the WDC, as it seems to difficult and far out of my guessing league.

But on top of the WDC there are other drivers competitions going on too, maybe not officially but at least in national newspapers around the F1 drivers’ countries. This year it seems surprisingly difficult to guess even the winners of the smaller competitions:

In the F1 FDC leading at the moment Nico Rosberg. You might say it’s just one small country, but still it’s not bad that he’s leading over the two other candidates, who drive for Ferrari and McLaren. Who would have thought that before the season started? :)

In the F1 CWDC leading Jenson Button. Not only is that a surprise but also the current WDC is last, after Mark Webber.

The F1 BDC leading Barrichello, and sharing 2nd (and last) place Piquet jr. with Massa.

Last the always exciting F1 GDC, some surprises there too. Leading man Timo Glock, 2nd Nick Heidfeld, 3rd Nico Rosberg (he competes in two classes on top of WDC), 4th Suttil and Vettel.

So guesses who wins each category, I think it’s going to be tough, but:
FDC will in the end go to Kimi
Button will take CWDC
BDC also will go to Rubens, unless Felipe baby really hardens the f*** **.
GDC is very hard to say, actually everyone except Suttil have a decent chance to take this one this year. I still go for Vettel to improve and start collecting some serious points.

On top of that could create two other categories: Monaco Residents Championship and Switzerland Residents Championship.

Even if the diffuser gets declared illegal, Brawn won't lose any points. It'll be illegal from then on, not retroactively - there are precedents for this.

Let me get this straight. I can't say what I really think of F. Massa? The right of free speech does not apply to this forum? I would say the same thing about the Boston Red Sox.

Writing "MASSA-You'll never be the man!" at the bottom of all your posts is very unsporting and, quite frankly, unnecessary.

Although its no secret of which driver and team I support, I'm hugely impressed by Massa, in fact my dream team would be L.H and P.M at Mclaren.
