True.. He shouldn't leave Mclaren. Just like Schumacher did with Ferrari, he should do with Mclaren.. He is a lot capable of doing. He will do it, provided he stays with Mclaren and provided unfair penalties is not levied on him :hehe:.

Sorry if this point has been made, but if Hamilton leaves McLaren he's a complete idiot, like the team or not you have to accept they have always been up there, and the only real blip in their history was fixed with a vengance at the end of the 90's. He's got everything set up perfectly for him too - lucrative contract, number 1 status, huge resources behind him....

its very very unlikly he will leave and even more unlikly he will leave mid season.

the thing is if McLaren had the pace setter and the liegate had happened sure Anthony and Lewis would be angry but they wouldnt be talking about leaving. After all McLarenMercedes has done for Lewis in the rise of his career to give him a car capable of challenging for wins and titles in his first two seasons, for to even consider turning his back on them at the first hiccup pace wise is pretty damn low!

'Hamilton's future at McLaren is on a knife-edge'
Tuesday 7th April 2009

Anthony Hamilton is reportedly considering whether he should advise his son Lewis to leave McLaren.

In the wake of the 'liargate' scandal, which saw the near-tearful World Champion offer a grovelling public apology on Friday in Sepang after admitting he misled Australian GP stewards upon the instruction of McLaren's Sporting Director Dave Ryan, The Daily Mail claims that 'Hamilton's future with McLaren is on a knife-edge'.

'Hamilton Snr is understood to be pondering whether to turn his back on McLaren, the team who supported Lewis through the ranks at an estimated cost of £5million, and switch to rivals less prone to shooting themselves in the foot,' the newspaper reports.

'The biggest stumbling block to engineering an escape route concerns where to place Lewis.

'Ferrari are favourites, if he can wriggle out of his five-year contract worth £75m, but they are currently as slow as McLaren. He is into his second year of the deal but various get-out clauses could cut his stay short.'

In his column for The Sunday Times this weekend, Martin Brundle, a former driver-turned-pundit who also acted as an advisor to David Coulthard during the Scot's racing career, speculated whether the details of the 'Liargate' scandal may itself offer Hamilton an escape route.

'McLaren could also now be perceived to be in breach of Lewis's contract for bringing him into disrepute especially as a senior team member has taken the whole rap,' Brundle wrote. 'This would make Lewis a free agent if he wanted to move teams.'

Hamilton junior, meanwhile, is expected to hold talks with the team at their Woking HQ this week.

He won't be leaving.
And if he does it won't be to Ferrari.

That much is certain. Alonso's deal is already done and I'm sure there's an "Anyone but Hamilton" clause.

None of these stories are terribly surprising. I've been saying Hamilton would drop McLaren at the top hat if it suited him. My opinion of Hamilton is already very mixed. If he leaves McLaren, he will show himself to a man of absolutely no moral integrity whatsoever. Imagine having your entire career bankrolled by a team whose team boss sees you as a son, has been provided with two championship-winning cars out of three seasons in Formula One and allowing a respected colleague who's been at the team for the best part of four decades take the blame for you, and then trying to slither like a sleeked snake out of the team.

Yeah^^
Hamilton must have immense mental strength, because I think if Kimi, or Massa etc had been through what Hamilton has been through, they would surely be giving up on F1.

This is a stupid rumour. I Lewis did leave Mclaren it would be the biggest mistake of his life. Neither Anthony nor Lewis would make such a stupid decision, and therefore this is just a stupid rumour
