Henri Lloyd is widely regarded as one of the market leaders in technical sailing and lifestyle apparel, and has pioneered the development of fabrics, garment design and product development for over 45 years. The company's extensive knowledge and experience of innovative fabric technology has been applied to Brawn GP's team clothing for the 2009 season to create a uniform able to adapt to the various climatic environments which the team will encounter at the seventeen races on the Grand Prix calendar.

Founded and based in Manchester, England, Henri Lloyd is extremely proud of its British heritage and delighted to be supporting the Brackley based British team, using the shared values of innovation and performance to continue its product development ambitions in the unique environment of Formula One.

Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group to sponsor Brawn GP

Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group is to invest in Formula One for the first time as a significant team sponsor after a deal was reached with Brawn GP whose driver Jenson Button is the surprise favourite to win Sunday's Australian Grand Prix.

The multi-million pound deal is expected to be officially confirmed in Melbourne tomorrow by Branson who is thought to be on his way to Australia. The deal is the first big sponsor signing for the Brawn team which was saved from winding up by a management buyout led by team principal Ross Brawn after Honda decided to quit the sport last December.

Until now the Brawn cars have run in pre-season testing with no commercial branding apart from the Brawn GP logo and that of the Formula One tyre supplier Bridgestone. But a senior source at the team indicated to The Times on Thursday that under the agreement with Virgin, which was being seen a huge step forward for the team, the cars will carry extensive Virgin branding, though Branson's company is not thought to have acquired title sponsorship rights.

Bernie Ecclestone, the Formula One commercial rights holder, confirmed that a deal was reached in the last few days and said the size of the Virgin financial commitment has still to be worked out in detail.

The deal follows negotiations earlier this year between Virgin and Brawn, amid speculation that Branson was considering buying the Brackley-based outfit. However those discussions came to nothing a month ago when Branson said Formula One needed to be more cost-effective and would have to use cleaner fuels before he could get involved. "I think there are faults that would need to be rectified before we could go into Formula One," he said.

Virgin to sponsor Brawn GP

Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group is within hours of confirming its involvement in Formula 1 as a major sponsor of the Brawn GP team.

Following reports that initially appeared in The Times, AUTOSPORT has confirmed that Branson is now en route to Melbourne to confirm that he will become a backer of the Brackley-based team.

Sources say he is so keen to press ahead with the deal that he has cut short a family ski holiday to finalise the deal in person.

Brawn GP has run unbranded so far, sticking to the white, yellow and black corporate colours used in testing so far , but are now poised to unveil a major rebranding exercise.

AUTOSPORT understands that it is possible new colours could be used on the cars as early as this weekend's Australian Grand Prix, where the team are among the favourites for victory.

As The Times reported, Branson is expected to confirm his involvement in a press conference at the Albert Park track this weekend.

Virgin had been linked with the buyout of the former Honda team earlier this year, but Branson admitted the sport needed to change before his Virgin Group got involved.

"I think there are faults that would need to be rectified before we could go into F1," Branson told the BBC.

i think so..

This is the beginning of Richard Branson dipping his toes into the water to see how it is. He does not want to commit to the sport until the "faults" (I.E. Max & Bernie) are sorted out which is a very wise move. But I am glad that he is helping out the Brawn team with much needed funds and it will be good for his business as well as I am sure that car will be winning races!
