The car accounts for part of the problem no doubt, but Kovalainen received a lot of attention at the Technology Centre and couldn't get his problems sorted. Kovalainen himself admits he hasn't done a good enough job this season. But that's the point of this thread. jsonf1 is trying to say McLaren were sabotaging Kovalainen's season, which is ludicrous. In fact, come to think of it, jsonf1 is the eejit who was trying to claim Ferrari were conspiring against Raikkonen and acting in favour of Massa over the winter and early in the season, despite the fact Massa was close to being given the sack!

You want to point out where I said that?
C'mon show it.................
Dude you need to get your head out of "there" :banghead::banghead:

you've suggested it several times in this forum saying that kovi only did so baldy because Mclaren's fuel strategy for him

Your a absolute cretin who has no understanding of the sport you need to stop chatting utter bs

We are not talking about Kovi here idiot, we are talking about Ferrari and Räikkönen. Read the post before you reply and you will make a lot more sence

I dont think hiekki has ever been worthy of a seat at McLaren. I never really rated him at renault. If he ever makes an impact during his f1 carear I will be very surprised.

Heikki... should stop making a fool of himself. (At least he's not foolish enough to say "beat"... and jeopardize his Mclaren seat)

Right now there's only a handful of guys who can match/beat lewis:
2 drivers are actually better than him, 2 have the potential, and 1 almost got him this yr.

Mmmm. Now you know i cant let that go! I'll correct your statement.
None are better than Lewis.
One almost as good
Two have potential
and 1 almost got him this year.....with a little external help!!

If only the commentary from James Allen sounded like this then ITV wouldn't have lost the coverage...

Yes the car uses its tyres heavily, it had to do that to get the most out of it. In fact lewis was the driver who was harder on tyres so actually the car was more of a handicap to lewis than Heikki. McLaren made a conscious effort to develop the car in a direction that was diametrically opposite to Lewis' style...because they knew the car would deliver more that way. They put the drivers in simulators to adapt their driving to the new car. lewis adapted Heiki didnt(and lewis was further away to start with!!) This is why Heikki did so badly at Silverstone and leiws did well. heikki couldnt cope with the way the car had developped and had to have (winglets?? well some aero devices, and something that affected , I think the air intake?? but im not sure....) on his car to help him out, this stoped the car benifitting from form the developments.

Thank you. Somebody with sense at long last.

Well that explains it all!

Next year is a clean slate for all drivers and Heikki has a chance to get on par with Hamilton if he can be flexible. The car cannot be built around one driver (except at Ferrari :hehe: ) rather the driver adapts to get the best out of the car. That is the way you win constructors titles and if Heikki cannot get his head around the car next year Mclaren should sign Rosberg for 2010. By that time Williams should be strapped for cash and will happily accept a contract buyout

Hmmmm, I thought I watched every race last season but i guess I missed a few, could you point out those races where Kovi actually got the better strategy? I think i missed them but please let me know which they are......

Ah, the forum idiot is back again. As I've told you before, Kovalainen has only himself to blame for not being in title contention. Despite the best efforts of everybody at McLaren, he wasn't up to standard. His race pace was poor because he took a lot out of his rear tyres. As a result, he could not be given the shorter-fuel strategy, for he would not have the race pace to build up a sufficient lead for the first round of pit stops. Hamilton, though, did have the race pace to build up a sufficient gap so as not to be passed in the pits. Then, as the season progressed, Hamilton got on top of his tyre problem by changing his driving style. Kovalainen, on the other hand, was not able to...

And in what race did they test Kovis ability???????? Guess you are bright enough to point that out to me.......

i rest my case you cretin.

Man, some of you must be in Mclarens F1 team judging from the way you present your opinions and what you think happened as fact.

care to explain that?

Ok.

Some of the people that have replied to this thread speak as if they were part of Mclarens F1 team and actually know for a fact what has been going on inside the team this season in relation to developing their car for example.
