Well to be honest I didn't see the 2005 season and haven't fully read into how BAR got banned for 2 races, but I believe they were doing silly stuff like retiring healthy cars to save their engines just because they were well down the field.

Nope - they got caught having a secret fuel tank compartment, so they tried to prove that their cars were never underweight during the race - the FIA didn't buy it and banned them for a couple races.

If that was the incident at San Marino, didn't Button get to keep a podium place?

You Macca fans sure have a hard time to admit that someone else is just simply BETTER.
The only once complaining are the Macca fans......
Face it, they are not strong enough, their drivers make too many mistakes and they just need to be BETTER.
I can somehow see that the same guys will be complaining in a few years but it will go something like this "I am sick of the Toro Rosso-Ferrari-BMW-Honda-Toyota-Renault-Red Bull-Williams-Force India----FIA corruption"

What you on about mate if being better means you need to get favours from above to win then Ferrari are the best!!
I'm going to chip in because I don't support McLaren or Ferrari unlike seemingly everyone who's posted in this thread.
Jean Todt would be good but we don't need someone associated with Ferrari. This will only create more suspicion whenever a non-Ferrari driver is penalised in an incident with a Ferrari.
This may not wash with the McLaren-Hamilton bashers but the only deserved penalty on Sunday was against Massa. He should have cut the chicane and got himself a few more points.
Hamilton braked late and somewhat larily but he wasn't dangerous, almost certainly didn't hit anyone and didn't deserve a pen. Incidents like this happen at every motor race on every day across the entire world. If that was penalised all the time people would get fed up of motor racing and we wouldn't have a forum. (unless it was one lamenting the demise of motor racing)
Bourdais: f**king ridiculous. It's the stupidest thing (next to Lewis' penalty) I've ever seen in F1. Massa could have rounded him and got past easily, he had two thirds of the track to himself and he tries to drive in the only bit with a Toro Rosso in it.
Well done to Alonso, drove brilliantly, also to Kubica who was very fair in defending from Raikkonen.
Just as an aside, Kubica forced Raikkonen off the track, but didn't receive a pen. Probably because he (Kimi) isn't fighting for the championship.
