I think its stupid that the british gp is going 2 donnington!! It will save the FIA loads of money if f1 stays at silverstone. If you think about it, Donnington is no way up to the standards for an f1 race event. So instead of spending for example 30 million upgrading donnington, the FIA can spend 10 million doing up silverstone!! All that money could be going somewhere else!! Loads of work has already been done to silverstone and what for? That what a waste of money in my opinion!! Even a brand new motorway was added to ease congestion at the grand prix!! What a waste!!!!!
LETS KEEP SILVERSTONE!!!

I guess I am sad to see Silverstone lose the British GP, saw my first Silverstone GP in 81, John Watson. But it does look a bit shabby in places, some of the banks where very slippery to access due to the rain and I saw two people slip and fall, another woman hurt her knee after putting her foot in a hole. Let us just hope Donnington does a good job and make it more spectator friendly. Went to the Aussie GP in Melbourne last year, the facilities were fantastic, plenty of clean toilets, all tarmaced walkways and access and a LOT cheaper.

Although I still feel Silverstone is the superior track, we'll need to see what Donnington comes up with and then judge. I dunno how the lay out will suit modern day f1 cars, and the infield will be Tilked, but you know... If they put up new grandstands, new food stalls :p, walk ways, by pass the airport you know... It may work.
Plus at least the British Gp won't be replaced by another random country.

Although Poland has been doing well economically, it's still lacking alot to host a GP... but you never know

Yeah I too got an uneasy feeling watching what was said and how people reacted over the weekend.

I will have to agree with McLaren fan and come to the conclusion that we are not being told everything.

To me, it seems like Bernie has fired a warning shot, a fairly big warning shot. Contracts have clauses in them and I'm sure if Donnington fails to raise the capital required it will stay at Silverstone.

It seemed to me, by Damon Hill's response he was still playing chicken with Bernie and simply couldn't fathom the idea of the British GP being anywhere but Silverstone.

Oh and on some of the comments made about Bernie hating Silverstone, I don't think it's Silverstone he hates, it's the BRDC. Remember when Silverstone got washed out and customers had trouble removing their cars? Bernie donated money to get the public car park fixed and the BRDC built themselves a car park for their own members. It's little things like that which have pissed Bernie off over the years.

Very very true.

IF you notice, the BRDC have used a few sneaky tactics.
Hidden costs - Why is luffield and Copse now terraces... costing more than a general admission.
'It's not a big deal, but they arent grandstands.
Instead of further improving things for us, the BRDC would rather build more hospitality tents etc etc.

Still gotta love Silverstone, but it was embrassing seeing Hill at the Gp party trying to play the "Donnington will make the fans pay card."
The BRDC have stalled too long on this, Donnington swept the ground from under their feet.

Ach, Im not exactly happy about it either. But same time, BRDC have had years and years to fix this. They kept going on about how the government should invest in it.

I for one hope Donnington turns out to work. It's a fantastic circuit (maybe not for F1), but with the new investment surely it's better to have a British Grand PRix rather than none at all?

I agree that its better to have the British Grand Prix at Donnington than not to have a British Grand Prix at all... but there really ain't a place like Silverstone is there!?

I agree, but feel that was the problem.
The BRDC didn't really want to come up with the goods, and to stall them, would continue to play on the idea that Silverstone was the only circuit capable of holding a British Grand Prix.
I dunno how often, even this weekend, I heard Silverstone TV interview people and always ask why they had to keep Silverstone and the British Grand Prix here.

Silverstone is the best circuit in the Uk, but it was inevitable somethng was going to have to give. Maybe this will make the BRDC actually carry out their plans.

Not having a British GP is like not having an Italian GP. It wont happen so weather the race is at Silverstone, Donnington or anywhere else in Britain, there will always be a Grand Prix in Britain.

Bernie was said several times over the last few years that he has considered getting rid of the British Grand Prix.

I wish Donnington luck to be honest! Personally I don't think that Donnington is a good track to host Moto GP... so IMO it's gunna need f*ck loads of work to be done to it.
