the Spanish god should stay at Renault and use his super technical powers and make them fast just as he made them so in 05 and 06!

Not working this year is it :lol:

Look at those Hamiltonites glowing red-hot...

Totally agree with you nikon. I feel Hamilton isn't as squeaky clean as what the rest claim. He was envolved in that mess last year and was certainly one of the leading causes behind it.
I feel that he'll jump ship eventually if he doesn't get his own way, heck if he starts getting beaten by his team mate he may start trying to pull and "Alonso" and call for no1 status, what will everyone say then?

Seriously Schumacher seems to me to be an exception. If you are a driver wanting to be champion, you go where you have the best chance.

The only thing Lewis did last year was to drive a hell of a lot faster than anyone expected him to and therin lay the problem. Do you know what Alonso said when he knew Lewis was geting the drive.....What about the constructors? He(Lewis) wont be able to score enough constructors points!......The assumption was that the drivers title was his for the taking. He didnt like having his perception changed in such a public and humiliating fasion.
I doubt Lewis will ask for equality. Why should he? he considers himself to be the best driver and wants to win by proving that.
You say if you are a driver who wants to be a champion you go where the best chance is- I agree. Yet Lewis gets slated for lookng out for himself

LOL, I think our wires are crossed here. Alonso's no saint and unlike many, I do believe that he was to blame for a lot of what went on at Mclaren - maybe even most of it. But you can't deny Lewis won't start playing up if Kovy started consistantly beating him? It's in racing drivers nature to do that. Alonso took it to the extremes, but who knows what will happen in the future.

Yes thats very true. Who knows what will happen. :blaster:
Like to think he'd not do that tho.

For me Alonso has 3 options available to him. He stays with Renault and rolls the dice. They either come up with the goods due to the regulations changing or find themselves stuck in the midfield.
He could move to BMW, a team in a similar situation to Ferrari 1996 - probably better mind you - and moves up quicker... mind you making him play equallity with Kubica. Or he moves to Ferrari.

Seriously Schumacher seems to me to be an exception. If you are a driver wanting to be champion, you go where you have the best chance.

Alonso back at Mclaren? It was a shame he ever left, but it just couldn't work. The media in both England and Spain didn't help one bit mind you. Alonso's tactics were very poor and in no way should he have threatened anybody. However neither should have Lewis ran off to the papers when he was beaten... just like after Montreal. Alonso won't go back to Mclaren and I feel they will suffer in the end, when Alonso returns in a title winning car.

Amen to that.

Brawn keen on signing Alonso
Aware that Ferrari is Alonso's target
02/07/08 09:44

Fernando Alonso would be welcome at Honda but his preferred employer is Ferrari.

That was the admission this week of Ross Brawn, Team Principal at the Honda team, whose current drivers are out of contract at the end of 2008.

Amid speculation at Magny-Cours two weeks ago that Brackley-based Honda could be Spaniard Alonso's next destination, Brawn now admits that 'every team' would be interested in the services of the former double world champion.

"Honda is no different, of course," he is quoted as telling the Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell.

"Fernando is a very good driver that everyone would like to have sitting in their car," said Brawn, who until the end of 2006 was Technical Director at Ferrari.

Brawn, referring to the famous Maranello based squad, continued: "I know what team he would like to go to, everyone does.

"The reality is that, before we can talk seriously with him, the situation with Ferrari must be resolved.

If Alonso ultimately does go on the market for a different team, Brawn makes it clear that Honda is unfazed that his relationship with McLaren last year ended so badly.

"There would be no problem, not at all; the truth is that it would be a fascinating challenge," he said.

"Broadly speaking, everyone who has worked with him speaks highly of him. With McLaren it was obviously difficult, but the people at Renault regard him very highly," Brawn added.

I don't think Alonso would risk a move to Honda, even though they do have Brawn and a new set of regulations for next year, because it could still go wrong for them. I hope that it's the opposite and that Honda deliver a car for Rubens and Jenson to compete for wins. I'd still love for Barrichello to take the WDC that he deserves before he retires, but I can't see it happening, unfortunately. :crying:

I agree on both counts. Moving to Honda would be a big risk next season, and that's before you consider the effect the new regulations may have; there's more than a fair chance Alonso could get egg on his face if he jumped ship from Renault to a lot of other teams. I'd also love to see Barrichello leave Formula One on a high. He's been a great servant to the sport, is a decent fellow and his ability merits at least one title.

Alonso sidesteps latest Ferrari rumours
''I am not in a hurry to decide''
18/07/08 10:13
Alonso has the option of staying at Renault

Spanish F1 driver Fernando Alonso at Hockenheim sidestepped rumours he may accompany McLaren sponsor Santander to Ferrari in 2010.

"All I know is what I have read in the past days," the current Renault driver is quoted as saying by the news agency EFE.

"I don't know if it is true or not, I have not heard anything. Even if (Santander) do go (to Ferrari), it doesn't mean I have to go as well.

"I haven't spoken to anybody from Santander or Ferrari; that's all I have to say," he added.

Alonso, 26, also would not rule out staying with Renault in 2009.

"Let's see what will happen between now and the end of the year," he said. "Next year's championship begins in March, so I am not in a hurry to decide.

"In July, you can have discussions with people, but nothing very serious until September or October.

In another Spanish media report, meanwhile, Alonso gave a big hint about his preference for the future.

In a novel cooking activity for a sponsor, the interviewer craftily asked the former double world champion if he prefers French (Renault) or Italian (Ferrari) food.

"Spanish," Alonso smiled, according to the Diario AS newspaper. "But if you are referring to something else, then I prefer Italian," he added.

I still cannot forget Alonso saying when he first arrived at McLaren how it was Senna's team and that Senna never drove for Ferrari and that he would like to duplicate Senna's 3 titles and not driving for Ferrari to do it!

how times change eh

He might still not you know. Besides, The Hamiltons spoiled the Mclaren dream for him.

Anyone seen big Norbert Haug on the drums?
Ant will prob retire Dennis, get Whitmarsh to resign and take over Woking himself.

If Alonso leaves Renault, and nothing happens at Ferrari and Rosberg does end up leaving Williams, I reckon Fernando might fancy a shot in a Williams, especially if they finish ahead of Renault in the Constructors title.

Mind you that is if Rosberg does end up leaving.

From F1 Live:

Alonso hints he's staying at Renault

Fernando Alonso at Hockenheim dropped a big hint that he has now decided to stay put at Renault for the 2009 season.

It has been suggested for some time that the Spaniard, under contract to the French team for next year but with escape clauses, was considering moving teams.

But with Red Bull announcing its new driver line-up, and Honda likely to field an unchanged team in 2009, it appears likely that Alonso will simply stay at Renault.

It is believed that, while attractive to teams as a former champion, other teams are reluctant to give the 26-year-old a seat for next year while it is likely he will then move on to Ferrari in 2010.

To the Spanish newspaper Diario AS, Alonso said it is important Renault improves its position in the constructors' championship - currently seventh - by the end of the season.

"It is important for the budget next year," he said, referring to the bonus money provided by FOM on the basis of a team's finishing position.

"I want to be with a team next year that has a good ranking from the previous season," Alonso explained, "because you don't want to be far down the pitlane, and you know they would have less budget, less space, and they are not a top team.

"So the team that I am with in 2009 will be among the top teams," he added.

Alonso admits that not being in the fight for this year's title is 'frustrating'.

Referring to qualifying at Hockenheim, he said: "My team-mate was out in the Q1 and I am fifth on the grid.

"It's a little frustrating to know that with only a slightly better car, I could be fighting for wins."
