Personally, I think the biggest loser in that situation was Rosberg, because I don't think he'll get too many more chances to fight for those kind of points this season, whereas Lewis and Kimi are in two of the best cars on the grid.

Yes probably true but it was nico's own fault. He has eyes and brakes. Whereas sutil last race was completely innocent and he wont get that chance again.

I agree that Rosberg was just as blind as Hamilton, and is probably his own fault, but Raikkonen's accident at Monaco was pretty unfortunate, so he can't be blamed for it. Hamilton's error, however:  . One of the worst I've seen in all my years watching motorsport.

Hamilton, Rosberg hit with grid penalty

By Pablo Elizalde Sunday, June 8th 2008, 20:27 GMT

Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg will lose ten places on the grid at the French Grand Prix following their pitlane incident in Canada.

Hamilton crashed into the back of Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen at the end of the pitlane on lap 20, when the Finn braked to stop in front of the red light. The Briton said he saw the light too late and could not avoid hitting the Ferrari.

Both men retired in the accident.

Rosberg could not stop in time either and hit Hamilton from behind, although the Williams driver was able to continue in the race.

Both Hamilton and Rosberg will be hit with a 10-ten grid penalty in France in two weeks' time.

I'm glad they gave Hamilton the penalty, but Rosberg?? What damage did he do that hadn't already been done?? AND he had actually been given a stop/go penalty for that in the race as well!! WHAT A JOKE!!! I think the FIA and Mad Max have turned their attention to driving Sir Frank out of F1, I bet Nick Fry's behind this as well after that drivel he came out with saying F1 doesn't need privateers! Another nice plate of 0 points coming up in France...

Bud! Not hating anyone - just that he will get nothing from his silly mistake, and maybe he shouldn't. His apologies to Kimi were pooling, absolutely pooling. I Don't even think Hamilton sees it as beeing his mistake... ITV also shows no press confrence unless Hamiltons there - Coulthart was there today!!!!

Oh PLEASE! they showed the winner cos that was all they had time for, and had it been hamilton, and they cut after him wouldnt that have been GREAT for folk to have another go. I hate it when they cut the press conference, i was dying to see what Heidfeld said cos he looked seriously pissed!
Yes lewis made a mistake, no question, but he was the biggest looser cos he was blitzin everyone on that track. Kimi screwed up last race. It happens, its motor racing.

Here comes Hamilton's cavalry!

Oh here we go again, Mr. Predictable
Try reading my post again
Now explain exactly how i am his cavalry when i just said he screwed up

It was something he could have avoided, so based on that alone I would say that the penalty was just, however if he had already been penalised during the race than it isn't fair at all. I wasn't aware that he had been forced to serve a stop and go, though.

To me, it looked as though Rosberg had no idea the pitlane light was red as well, so in that case he should be penalised too.

It's nice to see more McLaren points be chucked away through Lewis "Senna" Hamilton's incompetence.

He did, but predictably James Allen being his usual incompetent self failed to pick up on it... I wondered why he had pitted 3 times but then I found out he had been given a stop/go when I went on a (rather crap) Williams forum after the race. I think Sir Frank and Patrick should appeal, he's already been given a stop/go for it, why punish him twice when the only damage he caused was to yet another front wing?? Double standards again from the F***ing Idiots Association.

I think Hamilton deserved it, but Rosberg?? He hit Hammy's car, and it was already damaged!! Besides he did more damage to his own car then Hamilton's. In my opinion Rosberg deserved the stop and go, but not the 10 grid spot penalty.

In that case, I take back what I said. If he was penalised during the race today then he should not be penalised in the French Grand Prix.

Spot on Rivelution, why punish Nico twice for damaging his own car? Mind you this is Mad Max afterall... probably out for revenge on those who oppose him...

I doubt its Max's fault. It's just the un-friendly stewards who have no morals.

Balestre was always pretty quick on the telephone if he was not at a Grand Prix...

Damn, it looks like it WASN'T a stop/go afterall, it was a puncture that forced Nico in again...

It's time like these I wish Jordan were still around... :(

Despite showing strong pace throughout the race weekend again, the AT&T Williams team was unable to convert its potential in the Canadian Grand Prix with both Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima caught up amid a variety of incidents during the race. Nico Rosberg survived both a nose change after a collision with Lewis Hamilton in the pitlane as well as a puncture to finish the race, albeit outside of the points, but Kazuki Nakajima’s accident at two-thirds distance resulted in his retirement. Congratulations to Robert Kubica and BMW Sauber for their first victory.

Nico Rosberg:
It was great to begin with and it was going fantastically at the start. I passed Alonso into turn one and I was getting away from him, yet at the same time I wasn’t losing too much to Massa in front. But then there was the incident in the pitlane, which really was unfortunate. Later in the race I tried to pass Vettel as it was really necessary to have a go, but I got off the clean line and went wide and Heikki Kovalainen got past me. I am now looking ahead to the next race in France where naturally we will be hoping to achieve a better result.

Kazuki Nakajima:
With all the other incidents in the field, it was going well, but then when I was following Jenson, it seemed as if he got on the marbles in the middle of the hairpin and lost traction, and I couldn’t avoid him. I damaged my front wing and it was coming off. When I came into the pitlane, it detached itself completely and was stuck under the chassis, so I couldn’t make the corner, so that was it for me.

Sam Michael, Technical Director:
Obviously it was not a good result for us, although we had good first laps and a good strategy, but Nico then had a crash at the end of the pitlane, that put him back, and then had a puncture and it was difficult to recover from that. Kazuki had a crash later in the race at the hairpin. There were points for the taking as the car has been fast enough to be at the front of the midfield for the 2nd race in a row, but we simply haven’t capitalised on it.
