You know what's funny is my brother who grewup having dog's as pet's with me, 10+ as kid's, want's nothing to do with them and neither does my dad unless it's a hunting dog ! They both cannot stand cat's and until I got my cat Kitty Kitty I did not think I was a cat person either. Seem's too me people who think like them do not realize how cool cat's are because they are to narrow minded and self absorbed.

My mum really never liked cats when she first met my Dad - she was always a dog person and he was a cat person. One of his friends' cats had kittens and Dad said Mum would go pick one of them up for him. She had to sit on a rush hour tube train with a howling cat (Toomey never travelled well) when she didn't even like cats and had no idea how to pacify him

She now loves cats, thankfully

Icemanpjn...your dogs sound like way too much of a handful for me! I like cats because they tend to be quite low maintenance

I could really never understand it either because imho one is either an animal person or their not. Concerning the people who say they do not like cat's I dont think they ever really gave themselve's the opportunity to get to know cat's as they are just as intelligent and loyal as dog's are.

In my own experience, cats are loyal to you so long as you provide them with enough food etc. Dogs don't seem to be anywhere near as fickle as cats. Dogs are probably the better of the two to have, but dogs require a lot more looking after. Cats are more independent, so you can feed them in the morning and leave them to their own devices until you get back from work etc.
