My predictions: without traction control races will be over on lap 20. On wet conditions lap 10.

Now seriously. How many cars do you think will finish Monaco without TC?

As you know t/c was not used during most of the 1980's and that was the turbo era with 1000+hp car's. There were race's when less than 1/2 of the field finished as well as other's were most of the field finished unless that car had a mechanical error. I guess we will findout who the real driver's are this year!

yep i was just gonna say it will sort the men from the boys

we'll see in the wet whos been riding that TC

hopefully more comedy crashes where its ever so wet and people just slowly, ever so slowly slide into the gravel trap and try as they might they just keep going

that race a few years back when there was about 5 cars off an the same corner
it had me in stiches! i think they did have tc then tho

I can recall what car it was and what driver said, but in the mid '80s there was an engine capable of 1400 odd horsepower when it was in qualifying mode - used around Monaco as well. The cars then had no power steering (or less effective equipment), you had to change gear the real way (i.e. with a clutch and gearstick), you had no electronic aids, and the aerodynamics were a lot less efficient. As a result, there is no excuse for drivers today complaining. If they find these changes in the least difficult, particularly saying as they've had months to get used to them, they're not proper drivers at all. I wonder what Senna and the other drivers who drove in the 1984 Monaco Grand Prix would say about this gurning we've have had from several drivers.

Thanks, DD. It also raises another point I omitted about the older cars being slightly lighter, and in the good ole days there was no refueling. Drivers now don't know where they're living.

Also back then there were drivers who were reknown for constantly crashing or causing crashes through being a mobile chicane, and the blue flag rules weren't stringent back then like they are now.

As I was saying to Certom last night on MSN, if drivers like Coulthard are that wound up about racing in the rain, they should just do what Alain Prost used to do, wave at the officials, hope the race director is someone "friendly" to his team, and out pops the red flag.

Or he could simply do a Lauda-1976 and pull into the pits.

I'm pretty sure he'll forget about all his safety concerns once racing starts to feel the way it did back before TC was reintroduced. I'm thinking that it might just be that he's not driven without it for so long that he's forgotten that he was perfectly capable of driving without it? Didn't he make the claims before they started testing without TC?

Lewis to get the maximum 180 points. Eyebrows to be taken out by Piquet Jr in at least 3 races, and for the young Brazilian to finish the season one point ahead of his teammate...on 1
