Lewis is a rookie sensation, and I hope he goes on and fills the void Schumacher left behind, but until he gets a couple of WC's under his belt and/or gets results in a non front running car he wont have complete respect from all F1 fans.

I would like to see Lewis win a couple of WC's with McLaren and then move to a team like Red Bull or Renault and do it all over again.

It's all pure speculation as the poor lad hasn't had a chance to find his feet peacefully.

The Bennetton wasn't the class of the field. Schumacher brought with him "a way of working" to quote from the horses mouth. The teams gave it to him because they knew they could rely on him.

What Schumacher had was the envy of every driver up and down the pitlane, JV tried to emulate it but he didn't have the minerals.

The Bennetton wasnt a slouch either, i mean if Schumacher was so much better than the cars he drove then he should have had no issues what so ever with the problems Ferrari had in 2005

Well I do like arguing - it's certainly preferable to hearing nothing but "wait and see" between now and March...

I usually argue for 5 or 6 post's then I come out with the "wait and see"
If your still trying to make your point after 5 or 6 it's not as if your going to convice them is it.

He had a superior car for many of his champioship victories and no competitive teammate, he was also allowed to get away with far too much dirty play. I grant you he was exciting to watch when he first started and was up against Ayrton but he became boring to watch. If Ayrton had lived, Schumi's foul play punished or acompetitive team mate alongside him the record book would look very different.

I really think Schumacher will never quite top certain drivers because he was just too nondescript out of the car, and even if he was hard to beat he never had the aura of a deity like Senna, Clark and Fangio had.

And I'll be able to say that I saw Shumacher break his leg (in the flesh so tp speak) in '99 with a glint in my eye.

Schumacher done for F1 what Alonso done for F1 in Spain and Lewis is doing at the moment in the UK (and possibly some Afro-caribbean nations - a la Tiger Woods).

The piquet family are w**kers - jr. is a highly strung little git and would be a carbon copy of Alonso. I remember his dad whining when Frank Williams refused to tell Mansell to slow down in order for Piquet to win.

Nope - Jr. would be a baaaaaaad choice.

Well, I remember LH whining this season as well. So what? If they can give good fight - like Prost and Senna did (or Mansell and Piquet Snr.) let them whine much as they want. Anyway, RD could put in their contracts that any publicly exposed hostility (in press) toward teammate will bring down penalties on driver. Kick their wallets and they'll behave.

I'll admit I'm not Schumacher's greatest fan, but there have been some pretty even worse drivers than him when it comes to "mistakes". One that springs to my immediate mind is the mardy Swiss driver Gregor Foitek who was responsible for the F3000 crash at Brands Hatch that shattered Johnny Herbert's legs in 1988. Foitek also injured Herbert earlier on that year by pushing him off track and concussing him.

How he got an F1 drive with that display of unsportsmanship we'll never know... probably something to do with the fact that the team he drove for in 1989 was the half-Swiss pre-qualifying specialists Eurobrun.

He may not have been the fastest driver over a single lap, but he won more races in the history of the sport then anyone else, why is that so bud?

He was a team leader, he was aggressive, he was a hard worker, he kept hismself fit, he was an egotistical maniac, he demanded the team worked for him and him alone, he bent every rule, he was mentally strong, he never blamed the team, oh and he wasn't a slouch behind the wheel either.

He was the most "complete" driver there ever was, being fast behind the wheel isn't enough anymore in modern day F1.

I'm not blind or stupid but yes I'll admit I was one of his disciples, for very good reason.

He made me laugh, cry, happy, mad, jump out of my seat and spill my beer, want to throw the remote at the telly, embarassed to be his supporter, proud to be his supporter, forced too much money out of my wallet on merchandise...

What more do you want from a race driver?
