It would be interesting.
Because whats to say Nico is better or worse than Hamiliton. To be honest i think they would be well matched, the same way Alonso and Lewis where.

But in all honesty i think McLaren will want someone with experience, because at the end of the day, no top team i think has ever taken on 2 inexperienced drivers. Unless they got Wurz as test driver again, that might even work.

There's apparently something in Alonso's contract preventing him from going to a manufacturer, if so Renault is off the cards.

^^it would help if he hadn't just terminated that contract with McLaren, lol.

Theres no point mentioned any trades with Contracts, because right now Alonso is a free agent, and so is Kovy. Neither have contracts.
While Roseberg and Button are still tied to Williams and Honda.

I really dont buy the mercedes wanting a german driver thing. Because most of M'clarens drivers have been finnish or british, when they have had the chance to get good german drivers they didnt: Schmacuer, Frentzen, Heidfeld, Rosberg... The list goes on. I dont think they have ever had a german driver....

Jochen Mass drove for McLaren '82 and is the only german to ever race a McLaren. He was involved in the crash that killed GV at the Belgium GP in Zolder.

Hopefully

a) Alonso + Nico.
Williams HAS a vacant seat... Nico is a future champion, and he's not that arrogant

b) Heidfeld + Alonso.
BMW wants to creep up the front row... what better opportunity?

Thanks texasmir for confirming that the so called mclaren dream to have a german driver is either very doubtable or even that the reverse is the case! I germand in so many years? Shocking really, there have been a lot of good germans. How would frentzen have done against mika in the same car? S THE last point is a wee bit of topic.

Although Allonso and Mclaren have parted company, and thei respective contracts are null and void . A lot of sites are saying that Alonso is barred from going to a manufacturers team for 1 year What we do not know is that there may have been conditions written into that parting. Only Mclaren and Alonso know for sure the full terms. If this is the case then that rules out BMW, Renaukt and Toyota

Mercedes just need to have a presence in F1 and the grid to have a single german driver for their Marketing boxes to be ticked.

Britain is the next biggest car market in Europe so having Lewis Hamilton in the car will keep their corporate boffins smiling.

After that, they just need to be competative and the rest will take care of itself...

That makes a lot of sense and is probably true.

Mark Webber to McLaren and Alonso to Red Bull...

Now that I'd like to see...

I cant see RD wanting webber, he;ll want someone to pair with LH for a number of years and who wont rock the boat. Webber seems to like moving around and after his comments about LH in Fugi, I dont think it would work, Flavio does tend to manage some hot tempered drivers, and RD wont want a repeat of 07
