Interesting that SF has grown to 1MIL likes on FB and they only started their official page there last spring. Also that they have added half a million in a month during the off-season.

Ferrari itself having ~13Mil that's a wow :yes:

Maranello, 23 January –It only took a few months to reach a million likers on Scuderia Ferrari’s official Facebook page. Set up halfway through last Spring, the wall on the most popular social network in the world has seen the number of Prancing Horse fans increase at an ever more frantic pace, especially in recent weeks: go back to just 19 December and there were half a million likers!

The millionth fan is Franco C., an Italian from Chivasso, who supports the Scuderia of course, as well as Juventus, as can be gleaned from his profile. He clicked his appreciation this evening a little after 8pm.

The Maranello team’s page lines up alongside the official Ferrari one, which is heading for more than 13 million likers. Along with Twitter and the www.ferrarif1.com site, the Scuderia notice board on the platforms is still seeing votes coming in for the choice of name of the car that Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen will drive in this year’s Formula 1 World Championship. There are only a few hours to go before the ballot ends and Friday, at 12.30 CET, the winning name will be revealed.

Personally I think Alonso brought something more tangible to Ferrari than marketability, he brought Santander.

Makes sense, Santander sponsoring the only Spanish F1 star. Whats more impressive is Santander also equally sponsoring the British McLaren driver, Lewis Hamilton :rofl:

The group had announced on 1 December 2008 that their Formula One sponsorship deal with McLaren would end in 2010, when Santander would become Ferrari's main sponsor. However, in September 2009, Santander announced it would continue to sponsor McLaren alongside Ferrari due to its brand awareness in the UK rising from 20 to 82 percent

Aka the Lewis effect :rofl::rofl:

Interesting list. I judge its worth by this -> Virat Kohli and Alan Oliveira are more marketable than Tom Brady or Peyton Manning :rofl:

That is the most recent credible list, compiled in 2013. No doubt you could supply your own list of top sportsmen? You dont think that list is worth much, where is your credible list that tells us the 'correct' order?
Or should we all just supply our opinions and shout them at each other?

The list you provided is less timely since it was from 10 May 2013; whereas, the one I posted is from January 03, 2014.
Of course, you may not consider it to be "credible" because it wasn't conducted in your backyard?

Just a question ..... did Santander follow Lewis to Mercedes and sponsor them as well, or stay with McLaren?

"Santander and McLaren have formed a long term partnership and together we have set new standards in sports marketing," said Keith Moor, Santander's Chief Marketing Officer. "Our decision to renew that relationship is not something that we have taken lightly, but it is based upon a proven track record of achievement and we are pleased to continue to be in partnership with one of the most iconic brands in global sport."

yeah well, that 'proven track record of achievement' is unlikely to be 2013, more likely pre 2013 when Lewis was still there. Santander are now one of the biggest British high street bank retail outlets, therefore it makes sense to continue with some of the lamest adverts ever known. Note there is no talk about increase in market share etc. i.e. their current multi sport sponsorship is ticking over.

Anyway Santander are in some proper financial poo poo and cant afford to be rocking any boats seeing as how they chewed off more than they could swallow in muscling into the UK banking market

What have the top ten earners in sport gotta do with marketability? Marketability list correlates to popularity and fan following.
Earnings are mainly a function of which sport the guy is in. So Lewis is not in the top 10 earners, and?

Pray tell us, who are the highest earning F1 drivers on that list? In what way does highest earners in a sports world dominated by NBA and NFL and tennis correlate with real or social media following of F1 drivers

Please try and stay on the topic proposed by the OP

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

When Santander changed their mind about moving their sponsorship completely over to the Spaniard Alonso at Ferrari, and decided to continue at McLaren where its brand awareness had just shot up to 80%

BUTTON WAS NOT YET AT THE TEAM
