so Eric Boiler at Lotus says he knows other teams will miss out on Jerez test

Is this just wishful thinking and PR speak for the (few if any) sponsors they have or will RBR, TR and Caterham also miss out, i.e the Renault powered gang

Yes Caterham have said they will launch the new car at the test, however they could launch a car without a working power unit and test with the 2013 car with the new tyres or with new aero regs etc

Frankly, I'm more looking to the preseason tests and I prepare myself for the ugliness of the noses, the oil leaks, the high temperatures, the initial issues and the safe statements from the teams that this is just a test, you know ...

I agree fella. When a test goes bad and all of a sudden they are blagging and teams go into melt down etc. I just love the build up to a season.

Which teams are the biggest candidates for the testing haplesness awards this year I wonder? As Lotus wont even be there they get a special award, but which team is likely to do the headless chicken impression best, any ideas?

Lotus are definitely a nomination....but other than that nearly any other team is a candidate. Everyone's going in blind this season which is what makes it so much fun...

It would be worse this year because no one has any idea where anyone else is because of the big changes.

The end of the 1st day of testing and Caterham is at the top of the time sheets could cause some blind panic
