Just watched the Indian Qualifying, wanted Merc to go out on the harder tire for Q3, wouldve been so funny and good to see everyone except Seb had gone on the hards after he had set his fastest time on the softs, and it had come round to cost him in the race but now i think the race will be horrible for them :( Hope they prove me wrong tomorrow! Best chance for Webber to win one here I think as long as he doesn't loose too much at the start

I think we're going to witness an exiting race because of the strategy split. If there's a safety car early then there will be a huge advantage to the top three drivers on options, otherwise it will all come down to where they come out after the first pit stop.

An observation about qualifying though, and how it illustrated a poor call on Lotus and an extremely well calculated call on Mercedes. Early in Q1 Lewis got a radio call telling him that the cut off would be a 1:26.5 Grosjean's time a 1:26.577. Pretty damned impressive Mercedes.

Yes. We definitely know Vettel will scamper off at the start, but come late-race, when the strategies are playing out, it'll be a fascinating one.

I really hope this Grand Prix is more exciting than the previous 2 in India.

Grosjean is looking good again. :)

Shame about the quali...

that was the teams fault for not sending him out again.

It was indeed.

Didn't they take a gamble to only use the hard tyres? And also Grosjean got traffic.Well he will have an advantage of more tyres at least. I think he'll come through to 8th place.

That's a very specific prediction :hehe:

Great effort by Jules - I really hope he gets into a middle range car next season.

Did Ferrari make the right call on splitting the team and having Nando start on the prime? He was an outside chance to get on the front row or at least 2nd row. It looks to me as thought the team are gambling and rolling the dice for a win.

It looked like Merc would be lucky to get the 3rd row through the weekend so far, so 2nd and 3rd is impressive I guess. And I think these guys will lose positions (with the exception of Vettel) to the prime cars after the first stint but they'd be finishing the race more strongly compared to the Ferrari and Lotus'. Assuming no SC interventions. If Rosberg manages to outgun Vettel to T1, it will make things a lot more fun though.

Ferrari seem to rely on Alonso's shooting starts and race pace for a result, and maybe a SC, so prime isn't a bad gamble. It's a lot of things to align though, race after race. Bit desperate.

RB pretending to cover their bases is funny.

RB made it real clear they will keep Webber and Vettel apart on the track.

Whilst a well placed SC could help the SF strategy, I think no SC would also help their strategy.

Fernando had an outside chance of at least putting some pressure on for 2nd or 3rd, but the team chose to start him on the primes. Ditto for Webber. RG out of the picture meant 2 and 3 were a lock for the Mercs IMO.

Fernando and Mark, starting on primes should definitely get some clean laps in early in the race. As for coming on strong at the end of the race, having the options to finish the race on, when the car is its lightest and the track is most rubbered in, is what Ferrari is strategising. Normally I wouldn't be so sure, but, Ferrari's tire strategy has been pretty good since Hirohide Hamashima joined the team.

If Rosberg manages to outgun Vettel to T1, it will make things a lot more fun though.

Anything to make an interesting race. Personally I love to see Webber given the chance to race Vettel :)
