Bollocks, the RedBull was fastest at many a race weekend.

If it was the fastest why did they struggle at the start of the season?

Only drivers with more than 1 title can start to be considered as being the fastest.

:bs: Take Ayrton Senna for example,he was known as the fastest driver in F1 even before he won his first title,I also believe that Vettel was pretty much fastest before he won his first title.

And? I prefer Alain Prost.

Gilles Villeneuve? Sterling Moss?

Gilles Villeneuve was something else but Stirling Moss is a prize pillock.

You don't know much about Moss then.

Do I not? He threw away his only chance at a championship so his team mate could win it, he refused to ever drive for any team that wasn't British and I've never heard him say anything complimentary about about any non-British driver. It is my opinion that he is a prize pillock.

And you spelt his mane wrong. It's Stirling, not Sterling. Sterling is the currency of the UK.

Yes I know what sterling is. Sorry about the spelling, it's not my strong point. On the rest you are largely misinformed. Moss finished racing because of an accident which affected him and took away his instincts behind the wheel. He was only in his early thirties then, many racers in that era had even started racing at that age, he was planning to race into his fifties. He did go to drive for Ferrari but was double crossed by Enzo after which he said he'd never drive for them. He did drive a Maserati and when he had his accident Enzo was beginning I'm to drive for him and he was going to drive a Ferrari, terms and conditions dictated by Moss.

Yes, I've read Wikipedia as well. I'm not questioning his racing abilities or why he stopped racing. I think the guy's a tool, you love him - so what? It's no biggie!

He's not a relation of yours is he? :hehe:

From someone who couldn't spell 'name' who exactly is Schumcaher? He's listed as your favourite driver but I never heard of him?

That's right *ooh lightbulb* go ahead and make that little fix now will ya. :hehe:

@Andrew I've not read Wikipidea and I don't love Stirling Moss  But he was an extremely fast driver, as was Gilles Villeneuve; and yet neither have a championship to their name...never mind two championships, which you suggest is the prerequisite for being considered fast. Which is why I said that comment of yours was rubbish.

Coming from someone whp corrected somepne else's mistale,he's doing just what u did,u should probably correct it anyway

I did it in a humourous way thus the smiley. I wasn't setting out to try and make anyone look stupid.

BTW, I'm dyslexic but I still understood your comment perfectly. :P

In the modern sense I would consider it a prerequisite seeing as the driver doesn't make as much difference as they would have done back in the 50's and the entire grid is now so close, there seems very little to choose between the top 10.

Isn't that a contradiction? Driver doesn't make as much difference on the one hand, but the entire grid is now so close? I would think if the cars are so similar now, that would mean the driver is making the difference, i.e., if he screws up or not.

If a driver screws up then sure it makes a huge difference but I think the days of any one driver being able to make a huge difference per lap are long gone, unless their car is spectacular.
#341179
Isn't that another contradiction? :P if the car is spectacular then the driver isn't the one making the difference...

If it was the fastest why did they struggle at the start of the season?

They didn't struggle at the end though did they. If you're getting poles and race wins I'm sorry to say that it tends to say you're car is pretty quick...

I never said they did and I never said they were struggling at the end of the season.
