In other words, McLaren won't be hit with a five grid penalty for Lewis for changing the gear box because it failed DURING the race.

Correct. No penalty.
Even if it wasn't the gbox failing, they can still use a brand new one because they didn't finish the race.

Typical! They always manage to squirm out of penalties! :irked:

Good news, there will be a full compliment of officials for the FiA to choose from for Suzuka. Apparently the officials they loaned to the NFL are coming back.

That was an awful call - the entire game suffered from botched calls

Ah yes, American football, 5 minutes of action crammed into 3 hours of delays, stops and decision procrastinations (which they get wrong anyway). :hehe:

Singapore race onboard downloaded
Onboard with Hamilton said he was cruising
lift and coasting into corners using 3rd gear in 2nd gear corners
gently application of the power
Vettel was a bit more aggressive on the kerbs and braking

Yeah, Redbull think they had the pace just because they were matching Lewis....it was obvious the way Vettel was locking up and kerb hopping that he was on the limit while Lewis had more left in the car. McLaren still have the fastest car, but they cannot afford ANY DNFs till the end of the season and I don't know if they have the intelligence/QC to manage that.

Ok, I know there are some minor differences.

Cool story bro. I read he actually had his eyes closed. That was pretty amazing.

Not very related to the Japan GP though.

To be fair, I have a feeling that the safety car ruined Button winning the race. He managed to go 4 laps longer on the 1st stop which could have meant him going 6-7 laps later on the 2nd stop, which either would have forced Hamilton and Vettel into a late-ish 3 stop for super softs or Button would have caught (and probably passed) Vettel and Hamilton with much fresher tyres.

Gearbox penalty for NoGrip. Hopefully this helps McLaren focus on getting the win here with Lewis!
